Just as Aaron had feared, Amos’s people proved almost impossible to track.
A full week passed, yet neither Aaron’s nor Felix’s men managed to find Stella anywhere in Eirden.
They had poured enormous resources into the search.
By that point, they had no choice but to consider the possibility that Stella had already left the country.
She continued ignoring every call and message.
Felix grew more irritable by the day, and his attitude toward Aaron became increasingly hostile.
When the matter with Summer first arose, Felix had never supported trading her to General Litt for what they wanted.
Aaron had been the one who insisted.
Yet Felix had never explained any of that to Stella.
It would have taken only a few sentences.
Instead, he had ended up taking all the blame in her eyes.
And now he regretted it.
Jack entered with a folder in hand.
“Sir.”
“Any news?”
“She has already left Eirden.”
Felix’s hand froze around his glass of water.
His gaze turned cold.
“When?”
“The same day she disappeared.”
Amos’s people had taken Stella out of Eirden immediately after getting her away from the estate.
Felix’s grip tightened around the glass.
A humorless laugh escaped him.
“No wonder Amos has been giving Aaron trouble for all these years.”
“I should’ve gotten rid of that woman when I had the chance.”
He meant Remi.
Because she worked for Evan’s side, Felix had initially intended to have her killed.
If he had not wanted Stella to witness any more cruelty from him that day, he would have done it.
And now Remi had found a way to take Stella from him.
“Did they go to Seaborne?” Felix asked after taking a drink.
“No. Once they crossed out of Eirden, we lost track of them.”
Felix set the glass down.
A dangerous chill flashed through his eyes.
Stella had left the country that same day.
