Let’s Divorce Mrs. Wright Is Done Playing Nice novel Chapter 959

Jennifer had completely given up on Leon.

A full week passed before he finally appeared in front of her again.

The moment he entered, his gaze dropped straight to her stomach.

Jennifer had not spoken since he arrived.

She treated him with the same cold indifference she would show a stranger.

“You…”

Leon opened his mouth, but suddenly had no idea what to say.

Jennifer finally looked at him.

His gaze shifted to the kitten in her arms.

“You shouldn’t be around pets right now.”

Pregnant women were supposedly more vulnerable, and he had heard it was unsafe for them to have close contact with animals.

“What else do you plan to control?” Jennifer asked.

Leon fell silent.

“I’m not allowed to leave the house, and now I’m not even allowed to hold a cat. What exactly am I supposed to do?”

Every part of her life was already under Leon’s control.

She had no freedom left at all.

Jennifer hated living this way.

She despised it.

Every part of her was desperate to break free.

Her hostility irritated Leon.

He pulled out a cigarette and was about to light it.

But when his eyes landed on her stomach, he stopped.

“Go ahead,” Jennifer said. “This baby isn’t coming into the world anyway. It doesn’t matter what happens to it while it’s still inside me.”

“Jennifer!”

Leon’s voice sharpened.

Even the look he gave her turned severe.

A faint smile touched her lips.

“Watching you pretend to care about me because I’m pregnant makes me sick.”

Leon’s breathing tightened.

There was no mistaking the disgust in her voice.

She was not joking.

She truly despised him now.

All because of what had happened with Monique.

“You hate me that much?”

But now…

Jennifer let out a quiet, bitter laugh.

“I really was blind. How could I ever have believed there was a decent man among people like you?”

The word decent had never belonged in their world.

Leon’s breathing grew heavier.

“My engagement to Monique isn’t what you think.”

Jennifer said nothing.

“Six months at most.”

She raised an eyebrow and stared at him silently.

“In six months, whatever exists between Monique and me will be over.”

“Leon, you’re getting married.”

This was no longer just an engagement.

If it had only been an engagement, perhaps some things would not have sounded quite so ugly.

No.

It was ugly either way.

“Do you really think I don’t know what everyone out there is saying about me?”
