That was why Stella had been so devastated.
Why she had abandoned everything and fled.
“You can’t go to Seaborne tonight,” Aaron said.
He had no desire to keep arguing with Felix about Stella.
At this point, Aaron was convinced she was not really in Seaborne.
And even if she was…
After seeing how ruthlessly she had destroyed the Wright family, he was afraid she might turn that same ruthlessness on Felix.
Felix’s gaze sharpened.
“Do you think it’s possible she wants you dead?” Aaron asked.
Felix went still.
His breathing suddenly grew heavy.
Was it possible?
Could Stella truly want to…
His face paled as he stared at Aaron in disbelief.
“You know it’s possible, don’t you?” Aaron pressed.
Felix said nothing.
Possible?
No. It was more than possible.
Judging by how much Stella had come to hate him, she might genuinely want him dead.
“You mean she and Amos aren’t only going after Litt tonight,” Felix said, each word strained. “They might be after me too?”
Had she truly come to hate him enough to want his life?
All because of everything that had happened recently?
Felix could not bring himself to believe it.
He looked at Aaron, his chest tight.
“You know what she’s like,” Aaron said helplessly.
Everything that had happened lately seemed perfectly normal to him.
But to Stella, it had crossed every line.
She had reached the point where she wanted to tear everything apart.
“She probably doesn’t just want you dead,” Aaron added. “She may want her own brother dead too.”
“Her world was simple before. You and I dragged her back into the mud.”
Felix had always known she hated this kind of life.
He had known it even back in Harbor City.
But after returning to Eirden and learning about Aaron’s plans, Felix had still failed to oppose him firmly enough.
He knew Stella despised this world.
Yet Aaron had convinced him that all of it was normal for the princess of the Hogarth family.
“She isn’t thinking clearly right now,” Aaron said. “That’s exactly why you need to stay away from her.”
As far as Aaron was concerned, every decision Stella made now came from a place of anger and desperation.
The sensible thing was to keep his distance until she calmed down.
Felix fell silent.
Was she truly not thinking clearly?
“If she isn’t allowed to let all that anger out, she’ll never calm down.”
It had been the same when she went after the Wright family.
Until she released every last bit of the rage trapped inside her, she would never be able to move forward.
