Chapter 117-
Raven

Mairi was screaming? Thrashing about like the covers over her were ropes tying her down.
Elbowing my way through the small throng of people that crowded her door I skidded to a stop.
Last night she had looked bad. This morning she looked worse. Even with the wire that had sealed her lips shut now off of her face, you couldn’t deny the angry looking holes around her lips.
It wasn’t even that that was making her look so bad though. Those would heal although they would probabry scar, no it was the pure haunting terror in her
eyes.
What she had gone through would stay with her for the rest of her life. She wouldn’t get over it, I could see it in her eyes. I could pay out for the best therapists in the world and she still wouldn’t-
She lifted her head and our eyes clashed but the scream died on her lips.
Her chest heaved.
I opened my mouth to tell her it was going to be ok and froze again.
She was deaf. That’s what Josh had said. I could tell her she was safe but she couldn’t hear me.
I frowned before I could stop myself. How the hell was I meant to communicate with her.
Someone stepped up to my side and I darted a look down to Lottie.
“She’s pretty good at lip reading but I can sigh the basics.”
“Thank you.”
From the bed Mairis eyes narrowed as she concentrated on my face and then her hands lifted.
“You’re my father.” Lottie translated for her.
I nodded. There was so much more I wanted to say but I didn’t know how to make her understand and it wasn’t a conversation I wanted to have in front of
Lottie
My daughters lips thinned
“Where is your mom”
This time my daughters eyes flashed. She had read my lips perfectly well
“Dead”
“When “I didn’t get the finish because she lifted her hands and sighed angrily

Tattie squinted at her, clearly confused by the furious signing.
“I don’t know.” Lottie blew out à breath.
Mairi laid down and rolled over giving us her back. I didn’t need a translator to tell me she wanted to be left alone,
“Let’s let her sleep.” I said. “I’ll just-”
“Makes more sense for me to stay with her.” Lottie countered. “I’m the one she can communicate with.”
“Lottie you haven’t slept. And Raven you had club business to sort.” A new voice said and Gunner stepped forward. “I’ll sit outside her door for a few hours.”
“You can understand sign language?”
“Of course not.”
“Then how do you expect to communicate with her.”
The much younger man looked at me like I was stupid and then slowly lifted the pad and pen in his hands and waved it in front of my face.
“She’s deaf Raven, not a new born. She can read and write, you know.”
I did a double take. I hadn’t even thought about writing things down. But then I hadn’t been thinking clearly since last night. There was a million things going through my mind and they all contradicted each other.
“Thanks brother. I’ll fix you both some breakfast.” I watched as he moved through the room. Touching her shoulder shortly. She turned saw the pad in his hands nodded once and laid back down.
For a single second too long gunner paused and stared down at her back. My frown deepened. If he was perving on her after what had happened to her I was going to rip his head off.
Grabbing the chair from under the women he dragged it over to the door. Placing it outside against the wall. “She’s safe with me Raven.” He said like he could read my mind.
I stared at him. The set of his shoulders. How in the last few weeks he had been a useless member of our chapter. Over and over again he had gepe above and beyond for his club.
“I know.” I sighed. Clapping him on the shoulder, I wandered towards the cosimon room. At this time of the day it was usually full of chub guts cons.org breakfast and cleaning things up from the night before. But there was one of that now. Everything was already spotless and the wives and old labes haut taken to cooking. Healthy foods not the fried shit we usually ate,
I had a feeling it had something to do with the fact their kids were here And now my kid was here as well
It was a sobering thought. I stumbled to one of the bar stools
“Drink.” I snapped at the prospect behind it.
“What do you want prez?”
“Fucking anything.” I snapped. “I don’t care what it is. I just need ”

“Breakfast.” Daisy slid a plate of food in front of me. “What you need is breakfast and not booze at eight o clock in the morning.”
I glanced down at it. Taking in the fluffy eggs and bacon. It looked and smelt amazing but food wasn’t going to dim the pain I was feeling.
