Chapter 16

Lottie

They were having another party. This one was loud and rowdier than the one before. I could literally hear the moans and screams of pleasure over the music pounding in my ears from my headphones.

Rolling over on the sun lounger, I tore the headphones from my ear and tossed them down. They were useless anyway. I couldn’t

hear my music.

Hell I couldn’t even hear myself think.

Anger bubbled up, hard and fast and before I knew what I was doing I was heading up the drive. Throwing a black lace cover up dress over my bikini. The night was balmy and I’d wanted to spend it outside and enjoying the evening on my last free weekend

before I had to go back to work.

If, of course I still had a job.

Still whether I was employed or not didn’t matter. This noise and constant parties were begining to become tedious.

This time I wouldn’t sneak through the trees and spy I would march right up to his front door, bang on it and demand he turn the

music the hell down.

It took me only a few minutes to reach his door. Pounding on it with my fists I waited. And no one answered. I tried again and still

no one came.

Sighing I mumbled out a few choice words, and headed around the house to the back.

The sight that met my eyes as I rounded the corner was similar to the sight of the first party I had witnessed but with a lot less

nudity.

Sure there were two women kissing in the pool without their bikini tops on but it wasn’t a full on orgy.

I let out a sigh of relief but it was short lived.

“Well hello there pretty lady.”

Whirling around I came face to face with a man I didn’t recognise. Even taller than Xander or Irish this guy towered over me Lila

bear and had the grizzly beard to match.

I glanced down at the leather cut on his chest and couldn’t help but smile.

Bear… was written clear as day over his heart. I’d been right. And clearly his club brothers thought he looked like a bear as well.

Leaning against the wall, one leg bent so his foot rested against the brick, he studied me and a wide smile split his face at the

uncertain look on my face.

“Hi.” I mumbled. Suddenly unsure of why I had actually come.

This was a bad idea. I couldn’t just barge over here and demand they stop their party. Xander was nice and all and he seemed sweet

but he was a biker.

And bikers were bad news.

The lines around the corners of his eyes deepened as he grinned. “Do you need a little help, love? You look a little lost.”

“I’m not lost.” I swallowed hard around the lump in my throat. “My names Lottie, I live next door-”

He pushed himself away from the wall and straightened and I was floored by how truly massive he was.

“Follow me.” He took off and gave me no choice but to rush after him. “X,” he calls out in a gruff but loud voice. “You’re neighbour

is here.”

I froze, as I saw a man look up. Instantly recognisable he looked surprised to see me. His mouth falling open in a silent o.

“Lottie?” I watched as he mouthed my name. Shoving the woman who had been sat on his lap off roughly he stood. “What are you

doing here?”

Bear answered for me. “Thought you might want to see her.” Bear grinned and shrugged. Turning on his heel, he gave me a little shoulder bump. “Go easy on him, neighbour. He’s got it bad.”

“How did you know-”

His laughter was the only answer I got as he sauntered away.

“What are you doing here?” Xander asked coming to a stop in front of me.

“The music is too loud.” I grumbled just as a new song started.

“What?” He asked his brow furrowing.

“The music is-” I tried again and was cut off by a woman screaming as she was launched into the pool.

Xander shook his head. “I can’t hear a word your saying.” Reaching out he took my arm, and pulled me towards the house. Ignoring the people who had gathered in the kitchen he led me towards a room which looked like a living room and shut the door.

I could still hear the music but it was fainter.

“Sorry.” He let out a chuckle as he leant against the door.

“Music is loud.”
