Chapter 2 Chapter 2

Xander

“Your-” She swallowed so hard that I saw her throat bob. “House?”

“Yeah.” Again I let my eyes travel down the length of her body and let my tongue swipe against my lips. Her body was made to be stared at. Tight and tanned , and the tight denim shorts and tank top accentuated every single one of her curves in the best way possible.

She was just the kind of woman I wanted at one of my parties, or she would have been if there hadn’t been abject fear in her eyes.

I knew the Reapers had a reputation but a woman like her had nothing to fear from any of us. We would ruin her for sure but in the best possible way.

“Ok.”She elongated the word. “Well it’s nice to meet you Xander but I don’t want to intrude on your party.”

“”You wouldn’t be, why not come and have a drink with me, neighbour?” I kept my hand where it was but she didn’t make a move to take it. “I promise you , I’ll look after you,”

In every possible way I added silently.

For a second she looked at my hand and then slowly she slipped her hand into mine. “It’s nice to meet you but I should get back to- “She glanced behind her. “Well I should get back home.”

“Someone waiting for you?”

The moment I said it I knew I shouldn’t. It came across as creepy as hell and more than a little threatening. She yanked her hand back from mine and crossed her arms around her chest, pushing her breast together.

I couldn’t help myself. I looked down at them. The way they molded the thin cotton to them.

“Thats none of your business.”She snapped.

“Kind of is, Boo. I mean if there’s a man back there and he lets you come over here alone, I will need to have a word with him. Nice and quiet.”

“I don’t need-”She huffed. “Fuck your teasing me arent you?”

“Partly.”I admitted. “But if you do have a man, then he shouldn’t be letting you do shit like this. If it had been anyone but me, god knows what trouble you would have got into.” I grinned at her, a flash of white against my tawny skin. “Or maybe trouble is exactly why you came over here? What’s your name boo?”

“Cha-”She bit her lip again. “Lottie,”she said finally.

“Then come and have a drink with me Lottie. I’m betting you are a much better company than the current people trying to get my attention.” I laughed and after a second she joined in.

It was a musical sound. Girly and a little breathless. “If you don’t like them then why did you invite them?”

That was the question wasn’t it. It was hard to explain to someone who had no affiliation to the club. I didn’t expect her to understand. “One of my brothers got promoted to sergeant at arms-” I took in her blank stare. “Let’s just say it was a well deserved promotion. This is very much his kind of thing.” I shrugged. “I’d introduce you but he’s prob balls deep,” Too late I realised what had said, “Ooops boo, did I just shock you?”

Silently I searched her face. She didn’t look shocked at all, which was surprising.

She shook her head, a strand of caramel blonde hair falling down from her messy bun. “Not at all, it’s just not my kind of thing.”

“Mine neither.” I admitted with a sigh, eying her. She was gorgeous there was no denying that. The proverbial girl next door but there was something else there as well. A kind of bad ass-ery that took her from pretty to hot as sin.

“Is that why you were hiding?” her eyes glittered in the flashing lights from the party for a second. “Or were you spying on me?”

Throwing back my head I laughed. Funny and cute, it was a dangerous combination especially around me. “If I had known you had moved in next door I would have definitely been peeking Tom Boo, but no, I was just getting some air.”

“Your party is outside.” she reminded me.

“Doesnt mean the air is fresh.” I said. “So what do you say, drink with me?”

Lottie bit her lip. “I don’t know.”

The happy smile slid off of her face. She went from happy to apprehensive in the blink of an eye.

“Who is there?”

“Just the club, some old ladies, some club bunnies and hangers on-”
