Chapter 82

Raven

“Everything ok?” Gunner asked as I stalked into the meeting room at the back of the Lost Reapers composed over think

“Yeah.” I shot a look around the packed table. At their determined faces and sighed. “Is everyone here

I already knew they were. The only two people who were missing were Irish and X, and after speaking to them on the phone t

I had told them, no ordered them to take some time with Lottie. As much time as they needed,

I knew they would be back sooner rather than later but right now I didn’t expect to see either of them

Thinking about Lottie and what she had gone through instantly made me think about the beautiful young woman I had left hiding aw*\

in my home.

They had both been through so much, and I had no doubt that like Lottie, Daisy would come out stronger than ever. And I was going to

help her every step of the way.

“It’s just that you look like shit prez.” Gunner chuckled and a murmur of agreement swept around the table. “Did you manage to get any

sleep.”

“Or were you too busy relaxing in other ways.” Rancher chuckled.

I turned my glare on him and he instantly stopped laughing. “I need to talk to you in private later, Rancher.” I snapped. “About your inability to follow simple fucking orders.”

“In my defence she’s as slippery as a snake.” He muttered. “I mean do we seriously trust her? She’s the enemy’s brother and every time we have tried to help her she’s run.”

Someone else grumbled. “Probably spying on us for him.”

At my side my hands tightened into fists.

How fucking dare they talk about her like that? They didn’t know her or what she had gone through. And yet they made judgements about

her anyway.

Kind of like I had done with Lottie. I owed that woman an apology.

“Enough.” My voice rose and an uneasy silence fell. “We have more than enough business to deal with, without worrying about a wayward

woman.”

Who just so happened to be in my home right this second.

I mulled over his words before nodding. “Do you trust these friends?”

“With my life. We served together.”

“Good, then when we are finished here I want you and rancher to go and dig around a little. If they are.”

I didn’t get to finish as the door swung open and a messy haired sleepy eyed club girl burst into the room.

“What the fuck-”

“Someone’s here Raven. At the gate in a big black car. They are armed to the teeth. The prospect on the gate is trying to hold them off

Fuck.

I was on my feet and sprinting towards the doors before the others had even digested what she had said.

Pulling my gun from the waist band of my jeans.

Josh was there. Pristine in his ten thousand dollar suit. With his hulking body guards on either side of him.

He lifted his head and watched me approach through the chain link. And unlike yesterday he didn’t shower me with his shit eating gr

“Open the gate.” I ordered the prospect. And the gate slid away.

“Can I help you, friend?” I stressed the word with as much sarcasm as I could muster.

A line appeared between his eyebrows. “Where is she?”

I feigned a look of bewilderment. “Who exactly is she?”

“My sister Darty Jane ”

I fought to hide my smile. I would not have guessed that was her full name but it suited her. It sounded like sunshine

“No idea.” I shrugged and lowered my weapon. Instantly Josh’s muscle holstered theirs. I rolled my eyes

Clearly they had more brawn than brains because if they had been smarter they would have realised that Gunner was already of the compound with his sniper rifle trained on their boss.

He had been so mad last night, completely out for revenge that I didn’t put it past him to shoot Josh anyway. Except Gunner was used fo following orders and I hadn’t given it.

“She was here. A few weeks ago. At a party you threw.”

“Lots of women come here to party. I seem to remember someone shooting up that particular one and I didn’t see her afterwards.” I gave a shrug. Trying to act like I didn’t have a care in the world. “But I’ll talk to the boys, maybe she rode out on one. I mean with one.” I

chuckled

Josh’s face darkened. “She wouldn’t do that. She’s such a good girl. She always has been.”

“Well that’s good to know. But if you don’t know where she is then maybe you don’t know her as well as you think you do.” My eyes fixed on his. “But to answer your question Josh, I have no idea where she is. Why do you want her back so bad?” Cocking my head to the side I

studied him.

“She’s sick. Mentally and needs me to take care of her.”

Oh I knew all about the kind of taking care he did. I had seen the scars.

“I see, well she’s not here.”

“I don’t believe you.” Josh’s voice was tight.

Chuckling, I stepped back, and motioned for him to go through. “What an accusation between friends. Go and look for yourself losh. We aren’t hiding your wayward sister.”

He didn’t move. “If I find out you have her, then this friendship is over. I will destroy you and

Pulling my shoulders back, I pinned him to his chair with my eyes. “Friend,” I elongated the word. “If you ever come here and threaten me again, you will need more than two hired guns to protect you. Take that as some friendly advice.”
