Chapter 10 How Dare He?
The ride back was eerily quick
Finished
Raymond’s expression grew darker and darker. In the end, he spoke first. “Why did you go to a bar?”
“I’ll go wherever I want. Is that any of your business?”
Fueled by the alcohol, Agnes shot back without hesitation. She clearly didn’t take Raymond seriously.
She knew the Newtons had power, but she didn’t expect him to track down her location so quickly after she hung up on him.
“Are you doing this just to piss me off?”
She had been perfectly fine at the hospital this morning. What kind of tantrum was this now?
Lately, her temper had been getting more and more unpredictable. He couldn’t figure her out at all.
Agnes didn’t answer. She had no interest in talking to him. She closed her eyes and leaned back to rest.
“Did you forget your status? You’re a married woman.”
Hearing that, Agnes’s eyes snapped open. She let out a soft laugh. “Then do you remember that you’re a married man?”
“Of course I do,” Raymond replied without hesitation.
Agnes stared at him. “As a married man, how many times have you come home this year? How many of my calls did you answer? How many of my messages did you reply to?
“Do you know when my birthday is? Do you know our wedding anniversary date?
“Have you ever taken me to see the ocean? Have you ever brought me to any events?”
Raymond fell silent as he listened to her string of questions.
Agnes sneered inwardly. He had the nerve to lecture her about being married? Had he ever acted like a husband himself?
The car fell silent again. After a long while, Raymond finally spoke, though he deliberately changed the subject.
“Tomorrow is Ursa’s birthday.”
“I know.”
Agnes looked out the window. In the three years since marrying Raymond, she had handled everything in the Newtons‘ perfectly. The elders all liked her.
Except for Raymond’s stepmother–and the stepmother’s son and daughter.

Chapter 10 How Par He
Ursa Newton was Raymond’s half–sister.
Freshed
Tomorrow was her birthday. The Newtons would definitely host a grand party for her. All the wealthy and influential people in Grandridge would attend.
At an occasion like that, as the eldest daughter–in–law of the Newtons and Ursa’s sister–in–law, Agnes had to be there to help host.
When they arrived at the mansion, Agnes walked ahead without looking back. Raymond silently followed behind her. He watched her return to the bedroom and close the door.
He had planned to go in as well, but after hesitating outside the door for a moment, he turned and went to the study instead.
The next morning, Raymond came downstairs but didn’t see Agnes, Linda told him Agnes had gone out early
He had planned for them to return to the Newton family estate together today.
He guessed Agnes might still be angry with him, or perhaps she had gone ahead to help with the preparations.
He didn’t think much about it. He stopped by the company first, then told the driver to head to the family
estate.
Just then, he received a phone call. After the call, he immediately told the driver to change directions.
Early that morning, Agnes had gone to a boutique at the mall and picked out a delicate bracelet as Ursa’s birthday gift.
It had been too late to go shopping last night, so she came the first thing in the morning.
When she returned to the mansion, Linda told her Raymond had already left for the family estate.
She felt a little disappointed. She had thought Raymond would wait for her.
But thinking about it, this wasn’t the first time something like this had happened.
Over the years, as long as Hillary called him, Raymond would drop everything and go to her.
So what was she even expecting?
Agnes let out a self–mocking smile and asked another driver to take her to the family estate.
By the time she arrived, the Newton family estate was already bustling. Servants were busy inside and ou and guests were gradually arriving.
Agnes greeted them politely.
As she passed through the courtyard, she saw today’s birthday girl, Ursa, chatting and laughing with her ‘
friends.
When Ursa saw Agnes, a faint sneer appeared on her face. “Oh, Agnes, you’re here. Didn’t my brother

come with you?”
“Your brother’s busy. Ages replied calmly. “I came early to help out. This is for you, Ursa. Happy birthday.”
Ursa didn’t take the gift right away. She lowered her eyes and glanced at it first.
When she noticed the logo of a famous luxury brand, she finally accepted it–somewhat reluctantly.
“Thanks, Agnes.”
Just then, a group of kids who had been playing nearby suddenly ran over.
One little boy was running too fast. He accidentally bumped into Ursa and fell to the ground.
“Ow! Kid, don’t you watch where you’re going? Why are you running around like that? You bumped into me! Go play somewhere else!”
The little boy burst into tears.
“Why are you crying? Where’s your mom? You hit someone, and you still have the nerve to cry?”
Ursa hated children. The moment she heard him crying, she became even more annoyed.
She guessed he was probably the child of one of the guests.
Seeing this, Agnes quickly stepped forward and helped the boy up.
“He’s just a kid. Don’t be mad at him. I’ll take him away”
She noticed the boy’s knee had been scraped, so she brought him inside the mansion.
She took out a first–aid kit, cleaned the wound, and gave him a lollipop.
