Raymond also saw Agnes Standing there, but he didn’t offer a single explanation.

Instead, Hillary spoke first..

Agnes, don’t misunderstand. It’s Ursa’s birthday today, and Ursa and I are friends.

I originally wanted to come here with you guys, but Raymond said you had already arrived.”

Agnes smiled faintly. She quickly finished arranging the tableware in her hands, then turned and walked into the kitchen.

Ursa rolled her eyes and said, Hillary, just ignore her. What a mighty for no reason.

attitude. She’s acting all high and

Ursa, is this how we taught you manners? She’s your sisterinlaw. Watch your words.”

Raymond frowned and shot her a cold look.

Raymond! It’s my birthday today! Why are you yelling at me because of that woman?Ursa pouted. clearly unhappy.

Alright, alright. You two rarely see each other, and it’s Ursa’s birthday. Let’s all calm down,” Hillary said.

Just moments ago, hearing Raymond defend Agnes had driven her crazy with jealousy.

But remembering the way Agnes had walked away earlier, she also felt a bit of smug satisfaction.

The birthday party continued as planned.

During the meal, Agnes sat beside Raymond the entire time, but she didn’t say a single word to him.

Meanwhile, Raymond occasionally glanced at her.

Hillary had been seated at the table across from them. Watching the way Raymond kept looking at Agnes made her want to lose her mind.

After dinner, the men gathered to talk about investments, the stock market, and politics.

The women gathered together to talk about fashion, beauty, and gossip.

Agnes led the servants as they served the ladies and wives a dessert: panna cotta with saffron honey.

The saffron used in the dish was incredibly rare and expensive. Just the aroma alone made it clear this wasn’t an ordinary dessert.

A few of the wealthy wives immediately recognized it. Their eyes lit up.

Oh wowsaffron honey? Now that’s impressive. Real saffron is ridiculously expensive

You have no idea, another woman chimed in. Saffron is practically worth its weight in gold. Even if you

have money, it’s not easy to get the real stuff.

That’s the Newtons for you.Someone else laughed. In Grandridge, they’re probably the only ones who’d casually serve something like this at a birthday party.

Seriously. My cousin once bought a tiny jar of saffron while traveling overseas.

It cost a fortune, and she still treats it like treasure. And here they are serving it to everyone!

She’s the Newtons’s only princess. No wonder they dote on her so much.

The women chatted excitedly, each more impressed than the last.

Ursa stood among them, listening to the compliments and admiration. Her pride swelled, and the smile on her face grew wider.

Meanwhile, Agnes calmly handed a dessert to each guest, smiling politely as everyone began enjoying the delicate treat.

Suddenly, Hillarywho was sitting nearbygrabbed at her throat with both hands.

Her face turned red. She gasped for air as if she couldn’t breathe.

Then she started coughing violently, louder and harsher each time, unable to stop.

Oh my! Miss, what’s wrong with you?!

Everyone panicked. Hillary had already collapsed to the floor, unable to speak.

She gasped desperately for breath, her face and lips/gradually turning pale.

Agnes quickly sat beside her. She loosened the buttons at Hillary’s collar to help her breathe and told someone to call the family doctor immediately.

At that moment, a tall figure rushed out of the crowd and shoved Agnes aside.

Ah!She cried out in pain as she was pushed several feet away. Her knee slammed into the corner of a table, and blood immediately started flowing.

The man pulled Hillary into his arms and shouted to another man nearby.

Eden! Go get the inhaler from the car. Now!

Eden didn’t waste a second. He ran at full speed and returned with a small bottle in less than a minute:

The man grabbed it and pressed the inhaler to Hillary’s lips.
