Chapter 12 She Is Shameless
Her heart felt like it had been slashed a thousand times, pain surging endlessly.
Foushed
Raymond’s car always had everything Hillary might need–his attention to detail taken to the extreme.
“Raymond, I just had a bite of the saffron panna cotta, and now my throat feels weird,” Hillary said, crying. trembling in fear, pressing herself against Raymond’s chest.
Raymond had someone bring the panna cotta over. He sniffed it and caught a nutty scent.
He immediately called all the day’s chefs to question them one by one.
“Did today’s panna cotta have any nuts?”
“No, sir. There’s no way the panna cotta would have nuts. None of today’s dishes had any.”
“Then explain why this plate smells like nuts.”
One of the chefs leaned in and sniffed. “This… this smells like walnut powder!”
“That’s impossible. Our menu didn’t include anything with walnut powder. Where would it even come from?”
Another chef checked and agreed–the dessert indeed smelled like walnut powder.
They sniffed other plates. Strange–only Hillary’s plate had the nutty scent.
“Sir, only Ms. Young’s plate has it. We’ve checked the others; none do.”
“Hillary is allergic to nuts. One reaction triggers her asthma. How is it only her plate?”
Raymond’s gaze sharpened, scanning everyone present. This had to be deliberate–too coincidental, otherwise.
“Who touched this plate?” he asked seriously.

“It was Agnes. She handed out the dessert to all of us. She knows exactly which plate went to Hillary.”
“Ursa, what are you talking about?”
Agnes struggled to stand, despite her leg injury. She never expected Ursa to suddenly point fingers at her. “Besides the chefs, weren’t you the only one to touch the dessert? Everyone else’s plates are tine. Why is it

Suspicion glinted in Urs eyes. She had always looked down on Agnes, seeing her as powerless and unworthy of Raymond
“With so many people here, why are you suspecting me? I didn’t do anything. Stop slandering!”
Agnes trembled with anger, noticing even Raymond seemed to glance at her suspiciously.
“Why? Because you once stole my brother from Hillary! You wanted to hurt her!”
“Ursa! Shut up! What are you saying?!”
Raymond tried to stop her, but she ignored him.
“What? You don’t want me to speak? Too bad–I will!
“Everyone, Hillary is the one my brother truly loves. They’ve been together since college.
“Back then, a small misunderstanding made them briefly break up, and Agnes took advantage, tricked him, and even married him. She is shameless!”
Ursa crossed her arms, glaring at Agnes with growing excitement.
