Chapter 172 Blood, Secrets, and Justice
“How dare you to scold me?! You killed Mom! I’ll kill you!!! You disgusting old man!”
The shouting turned into a mess of curses and screams.
Even as they were dragged toward the police cars, Hillary and Harvey kept yelling at each other like they’d lost all control.
Agnes walked over to Raymond. He was still shaking with emotion. She gently cupped his face.
“It’s over, Raymond. It’s all over. They’ve both been taken away. Your mom… my mom… they finally have justice.”
Raymond’s eyes turned red. He leaned into her arms, unable to hold it in anymore. A tear slipped down his cheek.
A few days earlier, at the Golden Cathedral… After reading the letter her mother left behind, Agnes had stormed out in anger.
Raymond stayed behind. He picked up the letter and read it. All the confusion in his heart finally made sense.
The letter said:
“Agnes, Raymond, if you are reading this, then Judy and I are probably no longer in this world.
“We wrote this letter together before we planned to move. We truly hoped you would never have to read it.
“We wanted to keep this secret forever. We wanted to protect you so you could grow up happy.
“But life doesn’t always go the way we hope. If you are reading this now, it means danger has already come close to you. Strange people must have appeared around you.
“We tried our best. Now we have no choice but to tell you the truth.
“Don’t be afraid. After reading this, go to the police. We believe justice will come in the end.
“Do you remember a few months ago? We took you camping in the woods.
“That night, we planned to cook and stay overnight. But something happened, and we had to leave early.
“Everyone tried to stop us, but we packed up and left anyway. Agnes even threw a little tantrum.

“At that time, we had just set up the tents and were about to start a fire. We asked gather some sticks.
“After a long time, all the other children came back. But not you two.

“Judy and I got worried, so we went to look for you. We thought you might have gotten lost.
“As we walked deeper into the woods, we heard a sound. We thought it was you.
“So we followed it. But what we saw was the most horrifying thing in our lives.
“A man was digging a hole. A woman lay on the ground. She wasn’t moving. There was blood on her head.
“We froze. We watched as the man dragged her and threw her into the pit.
“He looked familiar. Like someone we had seen before. But we couldn’t remember where.
“We were terrified. We tried to quietly leave. We were careful. Very careful. But after only a short distance, a branch snapped under our feet.
“He heard us. We pretended nothing happened. We kept walking forward.
“But we could feel it, someone was following us.
“When we rushed back to the campsite, you two had already returned. We packed everything as fast as we could and left immediately.
“After that, we became paranoid. Always on edge.
“One day, I saw a man on the street. He stared at me in a way that made my skin crawl.
“He was a salesman who often came to our town. And then I realized he was the man from the
woods.
“I was terrified. I rushed home and told Judy—he had found us.
“We reported it to the police many times. But they searched the area and found nothing. No pit. No body. No suspect. They thought we were imagining things.
“After that, even when we called again, they didn’t take us seriously.
“We lived in fear every day. Always feeling like someone was watching us.
“Until one day, Agnes came home from school and told me something. She said a man tried to take her to see her mother.”
