Love After Leaving: No Regret (Agnes and Raymond) novel Chapter 308

"How could I? I loved her so much, I..."

Suddenly, like a mad beast, Duncan lunged at Raymond.

He didn't even get close before Raymond kicked him hard, sending him flying to the side.

"Where is Monica? Give her back to me!"

Duncan clutched his abdomen, unable to get up for a long moment.

Raymond looked down at him coldly, then stepped forward and crushed his foot onto Duncan's chest. His voice was sharp, almost bloodthirsty.

"Ever since you were a child, you've been obsessed with winning, and you were always coveting what was never yours.

"You hid behind Monica, pulling the strings, using her.

"You were the one shorting the Hales' shares, and it was also you who was trying to strike at the Newtons. Tell me, who's backing you?"

Blood spilled from Duncan's mouth as he let out a chilling laugh.

"Haha! You think you're the only one with status?

"Let me tell you. Without the Newtons, I'm still someone important!

"I'll never tell you who's backing me. Just wait... the Newtons... just you wait! Haha!"

Raymond's eyes darkened as he bent slightly, staring down at him.

"Seems like you're in a hurry to go see Monica."

"Where is she? Raymond, what did you do to her?

"I'm the one you want! She has nothing to do with this! I used her, and she knew nothing! Let her go!"

Raymond let out a cold laugh.

"Let her go? She's not even here anymore. How am I supposed to let her go?

"When you see her soon, you'd better apologize properly."

Duncan stared at him in disbelief. He didn't understand.

The grave was empty. Wasn't Monica in the hospital?

He demanded frantically.

"What do you mean? Isn't she in the hospital? What did you do to her?"

Raymond smirked. "If I hadn't said she was alive, would you have come?"

Those words hit Duncan like a hammer.

His mind went blank, and a sharp ringing filled his ears.

The fragile hope that had just ignited inside him was crushed instantly. The pain of gaining something—only to lose it again—was suffocating.

His eyes reddened, his voice trembling uncontrollably. "She... she's... dead?"

Then suddenly, he snapped again.

"No! That's impossible! You're lying again, Raymond! What kind of scheme are you and Agnes playing this time?

"Monica is alive! I saw the video! She's alive!"
