Chapter 307 The Empty Grave

Finishe

Duncan pulled a hammer from his waist and smashed it hard against the back of the grave.

As he struck again and again, he kept glancing around nervously.

The cemetery was pitch black, empty except for thunder and lightning.

The storm over Grandridge worked in his favor. Rain poured down as he kept hammering wildly.

Soon, he broke through the grave, revealing an urn inside.

His hands trembled as he picked it up. “Monica, is it really you?”

Fear. Hope. Grief. Anticipation. A storm of emotions flooded his mind all at once.

He stood there, torn-desperate to know the truth, yet terrified of it.

For a long moment, he didn’t dare open it.

Finally, after a deep breath, he slowly lifted the lid.

In that instant, relief crashed over him.

The urn was empty.

“Monica! You’re not dead! You’re really not dead!”

Duncan clutched the urn tightly to his chest, laughing and crying at the same time.

Not far away, Rebecca hid behind a tree, watching everything unfold.

The sight made her feel sick to her stomach.

This man was so attached to a “dead” woman, and he was even more excited than when he heard she was pregnant. Disgusting!

Her fists clenched tightly. Even the pouring rain couldn’t extinguish the jealousy burning inside her.

After telling Duncan about the pregnancy earlier, she saw him suddenly drive out in the middle of the night.

Whether out of caution-or unease-she followed him in secret.

She thought he might be heading home to tell his father.

So, she followed him.

But she never expected that he would come to Monica’s grave.

And dig it up like a madman.

Disappointment filled her. If she didn’t desperately need someone to rely on, she would’ve dumped this useless man already.

Suppressing her anger, she quickly put on a pitiful expression and stepped out from behind the

A tall, imposing man walked forward against the light.

Finally, he saw his face. It was Raymond.

“Raymond? What are you doing here?” Duncan’s face twisted with shock and fear.

A cold smile curved at Raymond’s lips as he casually lit a cigarette. “I’ve been waiting for you.”

A chill ran through Duncan’s entire body. He had been so careful, hiding for so long, and yet he still walked straight into this.

And Raymond, that despicable man, had used Monica as bait to lure him out.

Raymond exhaled a slow stream of smoke, his gaze cold and mocking.
