But every time Raymond came to the hospital to visit her, he always acted calm and easy, never bringing it up at all.
It was as if everything happening outside had nothing to do with him.
Agnes sat quietly on the bed, staring at the man in front of her.
"Am I that good-looking?" Raymond asked with a soft smile.
Agnes paused a little. "You can't see. How do you know I'm looking at you?"
Raymond said, "I can feel it. I can sense everything about you..."
Agnes curled her lips and mumbled, "Such a smooth talker..."
Raymond's lips lifted slightly as he smiled and said, "I asked Frank. He said you're recovering well, and you won't have any scars."
Suddenly, he reached out and found her hand. His voice carried a hint of pleading.
"Agnes, next time, don't act so impulsively again. Promise me you'll take good care of yourself, okay?"
Agnes pressed her lips together. That strange, tingling feeling in her heart came back again.
"I got it. Raymond, can you do me a favor?"
Raymond's face suddenly turned a bit cold, as if he already knew what she was going to say.
"If you're trying to ask me to stop going after the Ruells, then don't say it.
"People have to pay for what they do wrong.
"The moment they laid a hand on you, their fate was already set."
Agnes said, "In the end, you're going after the Ruells because of me.
"I don't want things to get worse. Please, just let the Ruells go."
Raymond's calm face from just moments ago suddenly turned cold.
His voice turned cold and sharp. "You risked your own safety for that man and even took a hit for him.
"And now, you're asking me to let the Ruells go for him, too?
"Agnes, what am I to you? Where exactly do you put me?"
Agnes said quickly, "It's not what you think. I just returned him a favor. I..."
"Whatever."
Raymond's throat moved slightly as he answered coldly.
Then he stood up, picked up his walking cane, and left the hospital room.
"Hey, Raymond! I'm not done talking yet! Where are you going? Come back! Hey!"
No matter how Agnes called after him, Raymond never slowed down.
His heart felt like it was burning with jealousy.
He couldn't stop walking. He didn't want her to see how out of control he really was.
For the next several days, Raymond didn't come to the hospital again.
