Carmen asked again, "A friend? What kind of friend would make you this worried?"

Agnes looked at Carmen and said seriously, "Carmen, you're my friend, too. If something happened to you, I'd feel the same way. I'd worry too."

She paused, then continued, "He has helped me a lot. I just don't want to owe him too much.

"Honestly, he's kind of pitiful, too.

"As the only heir of the Ruells, he looks like he has everything, but really, he's just a pawn in his family's hands."

Carmen asked, "So... you don't have that kind of feeling for Neal?"

Agnes let out a soft laugh. "No. Never. He's a very good person, but..."

Carmen suddenly changed the topic. "Then what about Raymond? What do you feel about him?"
