Who was it? Why did they only rescue her?
Just when Ursa thought she was about to see the light of day again, she realized she had merely been transferred from prison to a psychiatric hospital.
A filthy, rotten, stinking one.
The patients inside were all more unhinged than the last.
Even the doctors and attendants here were just as insane.
Compared to this place, the prison she'd been in before was heaven. This psychiatric hospital was a living hell.
Every day, she was forced to swallow countless unknown drugs.
Not only was she beaten by other patients daily, but she was also tortured by so-called treatments from doctors and nurses.
It made her wish she were dead, but even that wasn't allowed.
Fear and confusion flickered in Ursa's eyes as she stared at the doctor in front of her, her lips trembling.
"W-who are you?"
Carmen remained unhurried, expertly attaching a mess of equipment to Ursa.
Ursa panicked and screamed, "What are you doing?! What is this?! Ahhh! Murder!!!"
Carmen's voice was light and airy. "Didn't you say you couldn't remember who I am? I'll help jog your memory."
She walked over to the machine and said, "Don't worry. This is the world's most renowned, authoritative electroshock therapy.
"I'll turn the power up to the maximum. Your condition is severe—you need long-term treatment. And this... is just the beginning."
Before Ursa could respond, Carmen grinned wickedly and flipped the switch.
Normally, patients undergoing electroshock therapy were given anesthesia beforehand.
But Carmen gave Ursa nothing. She didn't gradually increase the voltage either.
Instead, she went straight to maximum.
Ursa's body snapped rigidly, like she'd been struck by lightning. Her eyes rolled back, and she blacked out instantly.
But soon, she was doused awake with a bucket of cold water.
Still disoriented, she felt intense pain surge through her body as a mocking voice rang in her ears.
"Tsk, useless. You can't even handle this. It doesn't look like it hurts much. I guess we'll have to take it slow."
Then, Ursa felt like her brain was about to explode. She couldn't even scream, wishing only to die on the spot.
Carmen turned off the machine and asked softly, "Do you remember me now, Ursa?"
Ursa convulsed violently, trembling as she looked at her. Before she could speak, another shock hit.
It happened over and over, more times than she could count.
Only when Ursa was on the brink of collapse did Carmen finally stop.
She wasn't about to let Ursa die so easily.
