After the competition, Agnes returned to the villa. Raymond hadn’t come back for several days, but she didn’t care. He was probably keeping Hillary company.

She packed her belongings and moved out of the villa again, returning to the southern–style courtyard she had purchased herself.

At a coffee shop, Agnes opened the door and glanced around. A woman inside waved at her.

She walked over with a smile. “Hi, Sharon. Sorry, I’m late. Traffic was a bit heavy.”

Sharon said, “It’s alright, Agnes. I just got here myself. I didn’t know what you liked to drink, so I ordered you a cappuccino first.

“Give it a try. If you don’t like it, I’ll order something else.”

A man wearing gold–rimmed glasses sitting beside Sharon politely picked up the coffee from the table and placed it in front of Agnes.

Agnes looked at him curiously. “Thank you.”

Sharon said, “Agnes, let me introduce you. This is my nephew, Jasper.

“He just returned from Montara. Last time, you asked me about Harvey, the person who bought your mother’s embroidery back then.

“They were all in Montara. So if you need anything, you can ask Jasper.”

“Nice to meet you, Ms. Sinclair.”

Jasper Gray spoke while standing up and holding out his right hand toward Agnes.

She also stood up and shook his hand. “Nice to meet you.”

She then said, “Sharon, thank you so much for this competition. You helped me a lot.”

Sharon replied, “Don’t say that. Your mother and I were very close. Her daughter is like my own daughter.

“I also wanted to help Daisy take good care of her daughter. When your mother passed away, I searched for you for a long time.

“I never expected that you had gone to the Newtons. That must have been your mother’s idea, right?”

Agnes nodded. “Yes. Did my mom ever tell you anything before?”

Sharon sighed. “I still don’t know what exactly happened to her. She wouldn’t tell me–she was probably afraid of dragging me into trouble.

As she spoke, Sharon choked up. Jasper handed her tissues, and she kept wiping her tears.
