Chapter 6 Surprise, Hillary!
The dining table was quiet

Agnes was used to eating breakfast alone. Now that someone else was sitting there, she felt a little awkward.
“This is for you.”
Raymond took out a small, elegant box and placed it in front of her.
“What is it?”
“Open it and see.”
Agnes opened the box. Inside was a huge red gemstone ring. The stone had to be at least 20 carats.
A pigeon–blood ruby. Wow. This jerk really didn’t hold back.
He had sent her gifts before through Eden, but this one was worth far more than any of the others.

“Why are you giving me this?”
“I thought it looked nice. It suits you.”

If this had happened before, Agnes would’ve cried from happiness. Then she would go right back to being the quiet, obedient wife.
But this time was different. After what happened to the baby, she would never forgive him.
“You’re giving me this… Won’t Hillary get jealous?”
“Why bring her up now? I bought this at an auction just for you. It’s one of a kind.”
Agnes looked at the ring, then at him.
One side of his mouth was still a little red. She suddenly felt a bit guilty.

Did she slap him so hard yesterday that she knocked some sense out of him?
She had thought he would come back to settle the score. Instead, he showed up with a ring.
Does he… have some weird hobby? Does he like getting hit? What a freak!
Thinking about it now, even Agnes was surprised. She hadn’t known she had such a powerful slap.
Yesterday she had somehow found the courage to hit him too. Now that she thought about it, it was a little
scary.
Who was Raymond?
The famous heir of the Newtons, the most powerful family in Grandridge.

Chapter 6 Surprise: Hillary!
A man everyone feared.
He made decisions quickly and had a sharp eye for business.
In the business world, he always stayed calm while others fought each other.
Then he stepped in at the perfect moment and took all the benefits.
At a young age, he had already built a business erupire worth billions.
Behind that handsome, cold face hid something dangerous.
In the entire Grandridge, who would dare provoke him?
Agnes gently pushed the ruby ring aside.
“I hope we can handle the divorce soon. I’m not asking for anything.”
She didn’t even look up as she spoke. She just drank her milk.

“I know you’ve been in a bad mood lately. I’ll come home more often these next few days and keep you company.”
He turned slightly and took her hand gently.
Agnes pulled her hand back right away. The move clearly annoyed him.
“I’m not joking,” she said. “I’ve thought it through. I’ll let you go. You and Hillary can be together.”
“Agnes, are you done yet? I can let yesterday’s incident go, but don’t push it.”
“I’m serious, Raymond. We’re over. I don’t want to love you anymore.”
The last sentence made his chest tighten for a moment. But he still thought she was just throwing a
tantrum.
She loved him too much. There was no way she would really leave him.
At most, he could come home more often and buy her more gifts, and she would calm down. Just like before.
“I don’t agree to a divorce,” Raymond said calmly.
“Fine. Then leave Hillary.”
She lowered her head and slowly spun the milk cup in her hands. She was gambling. Would he choose her?
“Things between me and Hillary aren’t what you think.”
His phone suddenly rang.
Raymond answered. A soft, sweet female voice came through the phone.

“Raymond, when are you coming to see me? I want the cheese bagel from Sauvage.”
“I’ll get them now,” he said.
After hanging up, he stood. “I’ll come back later to keep you company.”
He walked out. Watching his back disappear, Agnes suddenly lost her appetite. The milk and cookies in front of her looked disgusting.
She pushed them aside without taking a single bite.
The last bit of love she had for him disappeared.
No matter what time it was, if Hillary called, Raymond would always go to her.
Between Hillary and herself… He had never chosen her.
How stupid had she been to keep loving a man like this? Stupid! Idiot!
Fine, Hillary. You want to annoy me first thing in the morning? Just wait.
Agnes quickly ran after Raymond, who was about to leave for the hospital. Her attitude changed completely.
“Raymond, I thought about it. I really was too impulsive earlier. Especially about yesterday… I regret it
now.
