Raymond and Hillary had each been slapped across the face. One on each side. Perfectly matched, like a couple’s set.
“If you don’t get out right now, I’m grabbing a knife!” Agnes shouted. “You two better run before I kill you both!”
She turned toward the kitchen like she was about to grab a knife. Hillary rolled her eyes back and fainted on the spot.
She was scared half to death. Agnes had really gone crazy. She had even stapped Raymond.
If she could hit him, maybe she really would grab a knife next. Beter play dead and get out of here.
“Hillary? Hillary!”
Raymond picked her up in his arms and carried her toward the door.
Before leaving, he turned and glared at Agnes.
“Hillary has a heart condition. If anything happens to her, I won’t forgive you!”
Agnes didn’t even bother replying. She raised both middle fingers at them.
Then she went upstairs to the bedroom and slammed the door.
The servants looked at each other, trembling. After cleaning up quickly, they all rushed back to their
rooms.
The house had turned upside down tonight. Agnes had changed. She had snapped.
The bedroom was dimly lit. Agnes leaned against the bed. On the nightstand sat a tiny pair of baby shoes.
The tough, fearless act she had put on earlier disappeared. Tears slid down her face.
How could she not feel sad?
No matter what happened, Raymond had never once stood up for her.

Not with Linda. Not with Hillary. Not even when it came to their baby. He had never chosen her.
She wiped her tears. Only then did she notice the dried herbs still clutched in her hand.
When she asked Linda about the box earlier, she had quietly grabbed a few pieces.
She planned to send them for testing.
The doctor had said her fall wasn’t serious enough to cause a miscarriage. It definitely shouldn’t have caused heavy bleeding. She remembered that clearly.
The more she thought about it, the stranger it seemed. Everything else had been normal. The only thing

And Linda had been the one arranging all of them. Besides Linda, Agnes couldn’t think of anyone more suspicious.
She wouldn’t keep drifting through life like this anymore. From now on, she would start planning a new life for herself.
At a luxury private hospital…
Hillary sat weakly in a hospital bed. One hand covered her chest while the other rested lightly against her lips.
She cried softly, her tearful face looking fragile and pitiful.
“Raymond, please don’t blame Agnes,” she said through tears. “She just lost her baby. She must be in a lot of pain.
“I was too rash today. I should’ve waited a few days before visiting her.”
“This has nothing to do with you,” Raymond said. “Get some rest. For now, don’t go near her again.”
“I’m fine, Raymond. As long as I can be with you, this little bit of pain means nothing.”
Raymond’s face darkened. After hesitating for a moment, he sighed.
“Hillary, I’ve told you many times. There’s no future between us.”
Hillary suddenly became emotional. Her lips turned pale. “Raymond, I don’t want to hear that!”
“Calm down and focus on recovering,” he said. “I’ll have someone take care of you. Call me if you need anything.”
“Raymond… don’t go,” she pleaded, grabbing his arm. “I feel awful. Can you stay with me?”
“I still have things to deal with tonight. The doctor already checked you. You’re fine. I’ll come see you
tomorrow.”

Raymond gently pulled his arm free and left the room.
The moment he left, Hillary’s face twisted with anger. She grabbed the blanket tightly, her teeth grinding.
Agnes! Why won’t you just disappear? Raymond has ignored you for years. Why are you still hanging on?
Serves you right that you lost your baby! Why didn’t you die along with that little brat?
By the time Raymond returned to the mansion, it was very late. Agnes was already asleep.
He walked quietly to her bedside. Her pale face looked calm under the soft light. The tip of her nose was red, and tears still clung to her long eyelashes. Is she crying? Raymond noticed the tiny baby shoes she held tightly in her arms. His eyes darkened.

Chapter 5–There’s No Future Between Us
Finished
Thinking about the way she had gone crazy earlier, he touched his cheek. She had slapped him. And yet… he felt a strange hint of galt.
Maybe the loss of the baby had affected him too.
He sat beside the bed, gently brushed the loose hair away from her face, and pulled the blanket over her shoulders. Then he left the room.
The door closed softly. Agnes slowly opened her eyes. Had that just been a dream?
The next morning, Agnes woke up after a deep sleep. She stretched and looked out the window.
The weather was nice. Maybe she should go out today.
After getting married, she had rarely gone shopping. All her time and energy had gone to Raymond.
Every day she searched for the freshest ingredients.
Even though he rarely came home, his office and bedroom were always spotless.
