“Get lost!” Duncan snapped.

Ethan grinned. “Hey, Duncan, you know that guy at the gate? He looks unreal. That body, that car-I don’t even know which one to look at first. Even I’m impressed, man.”
Duncan shot him an annoyed look. “You’re still as much of a pervert as before. No standards at all.”
“What? Why so grumpy?” Ethan laughed. “He really is something. I saw you being quite polite to him just now. Who is he?”
“None of your business. Get lost.”
“Whoa, someone’s in a bad mood,” Ethan teased. “Looks like he’s not just anyone to you.”
Duncan went quiet for a second. He didn’t want anyone to see his discomfort, so he forced himself to stay calm.
“H-he used to be my tutor,” Duncan said. “I was just being respectful. I’m a polite guy, okay?”
Ethan smirked. “Wow, wow, wow. Since when did Mr. Newton get so humble? I remember you acting all high and mighty at school. Which teacher would even dare mess with you?”
Duncan rolled his eyes. “Cut it out. I’m not in the mood. So, how’s it going with that girl you’re chasing? It’s been a while. Don’t tell me you still haven’t won her over. If you can’t handle it, just admit it.”
Ethan felt a little uneasy, but he didn’t show it. “Admit it? What, you can’t afford to lose a car? There’s still time. Why are you rushing? In all of Grandridge, there’s no one I can’t win over. Just wait and see.”
Duncan hooked an arm around Ethan’s shoulder, and the two of them walked off laughing, bragging, and checking out girls along the way.
But Duncan glanced back toward the school gate. The man was still there.
A strange smile slowly crept onto Duncan’s face.
Not long ago, a video of Agnes standing up for Rebecca and confronting Lucy at the school gate had spread all over the internet.
Since then, Agnes had been avoiding Raymond on purpose. She stayed away from him and ignored his calls and messages.
Raymond had waited at the courtyard house for days, but she never showed up.
When he saw the video online, he was surprised. The girl who used to seem quiet and timid had been fierce and bold, not backing down at all.
He had someone look into it and found out that Agnes had enrolled at St. Austen University, and that Neal had helped her.
He couldn’t stand it anymore. So, he came to the school himself to wait for her.

That day, when Agnes arrived, she noticed a crowd near the school gate. She looked over from a distance.
In the middle of the crowd, one person stood out. He was walking toward her.
The tall figure came closer and closer until she could finally see his face. It was Raymond.
Agnes froze. She had known this day would come sooner or later-that Raymond would find her.
But even so, she was still surprised.
“You came to St. Austen University?” Raymond asked, his voice calm and cold. He looked down at her, his deep eyes full of mixed emotions.
Agnes met his gaze. “Why? Am I not allowed?”
She turned to walk around Raymond, but he grabbed her arm and stopped her.
“Why didn’t you come to me if you wanted to enroll?” Raymond said. “Why did you go to Neal?”
Agnes let out a cold laugh. “Mr. Newton is very busy. You have to stay by Ms. Young’s side all the time. I don’t even need to think-I know you don’t have the time or energy to deal with me. So I didn’t bother you.”
Raymond frowned. “Agnes, do you have to talk like this every time? Did you forget something? We’re not divorced yet. I’m still your husband.”
Agnes felt a wave of disgust.
“Oh, now you remember who you are?” she said. “Don’t worry. You won’t be for much longer. We’re separated. The divorce is already in progress.”
She was getting annoyed. People nearby were already whispering and staring.
Agnes pulled her arm free from his grip and said, “What do you want?”
“I came to see you.”
“And why?” she shot back. “I have class. I need to go.”
“Then I’ll wait for you,” Raymond said.
୮
Agnes frowned, confused. “If you have something to say, say it now. I won’t have time after class.”
“I want to have dinner with you.”
Agnes gave a short, sharp laugh. “That’s it? Forget it. I don’t want to start eating, only for Ms. Young to suddenly feel sick and call you to the hospital again.”
Raymond replied, “That won’t happen. I’ll turn off my phone.”
Agnes waved her hand dismissively. “I’m done playing this game with you. I’ve had enough. If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving.”
