Chapter 93 Love Yourself First

“He treats me really well. Look, he even rented this place for me. I tried to pay him, but he wouldn’t take it. He buys me things all the time. In my whole life, besides you, he’s the one who’s treated me the best.
“I don’t know if we’ll last forever, but I want to take this relationship seriously. I don’t want to give up so easily.”
Agnes looked at her. “If one day you find out he’s messing around with other girls, would you leave him?”
Rebecca lowered her head. She thought for a long time before answering.
“If that day really comes, then it means I’m not important to him. And if I’m not important, I’ll leave on my own. I just hope he’ll be happy.”
Agnes lightly tapped her on the head. “You’re such a fool. If you love someone like that-so low, so small- you won’t be valued.
“Men can be like that. The more you give in, the more you try to please them, the more they take.
“Don’t make being humble the price of love. Loving yourself should always come first.”
As she said those words, Agnes couldn’t help but think of herself, how she had loved Raymond for so many years, quietly and without pride.
The truth was, everyone knew the right thing to do. But sometimes, feelings still beat logic.
Rebecca hugged Agnes and leaned against her, acting cute. “Okay, okay, I get it. I’ll take care of myself. Don’t worry about me, Agnes.”
After Ethan met Agnes through Rebecca, he started asking Rebecca to bring Agnes along whenever they
went out.
He said he wanted to prove to Agnes that he truly cared about Rebecca.
no matter
Agnes went once or twice, but after that, she stopped going, no matter how much Rebecca asked.
She felt like a third wheel between them. Seeing them happy was enough. It put her mind at ease.
But Ethan and Agnes went to the same university. They ran into each other almost every day. It felt like too much of a coincidence.
Slowly, Ethan began texting her. At first, it was just simple greetings. Then it turned into daily check-ins.
Most of the time, Agnes didn’t reply. Ethan still acted thoughtful. He brought her snacks and even saved her a seat in class.
Agnes appreciated it, but she told him gently, “Just be good to Rebecca. That’s enough. You don’t need to do all this for me.”
She had already seen his kindness. There was no need for anything more.

Chapter 93-Love Yourself First
During this time, Ethan used every trick he knew to chase girls. None of it worked on Agnes.
That’s when he realized this girl was not easy at all.
So he came up with another plan. A whole “hero saves the damsel in distress” act, staged by himself.

On Agnes’s way home, he hired a few thugs to bother her. The idea was to jump in at the right moment and play the hero.
But before Ethan could even show up, Agnes had already taken them down one by one with a self-defense stun device.
From a distance, Ethan watched as she kicked a couple of them in the crotch. He froze. Instinctively, he covered himself and didn’t dare step forward.
In his heart, he was already backing out. If it weren’t for that sports car he wanted so badly, he would have given up long ago. This girl was far too tough.
That day, a matte-black luxury car was parked at the entrance of St. Austen University.
Students were used to nice cars. Most of them came from wealthy families in Grandridge, and no one lacked money. But a car like this was on a whole different level.
It looked rare. Not just in Grandridge, but anywhere in the world. You could guess there might only be one
like it.
Next to the car stood a man. He was tall and straight, with sharp, handsome features.
There was something cold and distant about him. Even with all the noise around him, he seemed untouched, like he didn’t belong to the crowd.
The car and the man quickly drew attention. Students gathered nearby. Some took pictures. Others whispered and talked excitedly.
A group of girls huddled together, almost jumping with excitement. “Oh my gosh-who is he?! Which rich family is he from? Is he enrolling here?!”
Not far away, Duncan noticed the crowd and walked over to see what was going on. ୮
But the moment he got closer, a chill ran down his spine. He wanted to turn around and leave right away. Too late. Their eyes met. The man’s gaze was sharp, like an eagle’s. Cold. Heavy.
Duncan’s body stiffened. He couldn’t help it. His injured leg even started to ache again.
Since he couldn’t escape, he forced himself to walk over. He lowered his head respectfully and gave a small
bow.
His voice was so quiet that only the two of them could hear it. “Raymond…”
Raymond’s eyes were still cold. “Mm.”
Duncan swallowed. “Are you here to see me today? Is something wrong?”
