Love Burned, She Rose Unscathed novel Chapter 889

“Never!”

“So, the two girls are in there!”

Fabian grabbed Mr. Smith by the shoulder, forcefully shoving him aside before kicking open the door.

But the room was empty and silent.

Then why was Mr. Smith trying to stop him? A sense of unease settled in Fabian’s gut. Something was definitely not right.

With that thought, he spun around and grabbed Mr. Smith by the collar. “Tell me, what kind of trick are you pulling?!”

Just then, a piercing scream came from outside.

“Fabian! Help me!”

Fabian’s face changed. He let go of Mr. Smith and rushed out the door. The next thing he saw was Jay sprawled on the concrete yard, a curved sickle embedded in his right thigh. The blade was buried halfway in, nearly piercing clean through.

“Jay!” Fabian lunged forward, reaching out several times but hesitating each time his eyes fell on the sickle.

Blood quickly soaked through Jay’s fleece-lined jeans, spreading into a dark stain on the deep blue fabric.

“Jay, are you okay?! I’ll call a car to take you to the hospital right now!”

“Don’t…” Jay gripped Fabian’s arm and slowly looked up. His facial muscles twitched in pain as he glared at Scales, who stood a short distance away, and behind him… Roseanne, Mamie, and Gail, who were peeking out from the side of the house.

“Fabian, I can hold on! Before we go to the hospital, you have to make them pay for this!” he growled. “And those two girls, I saw them filming with their phones. We can’t let them send that video out!”

Mamie stared at him, momentarily stunned. For the first time, she thought Scales wasn’t just handsome, but incredibly brave.

Chapter 889 3

Scales nodded. Although Fabian was aggressive, Jay was now injured and couldn't even stand, completely out of the fight. There was no way Fabian could stop both Scales and Carlson on his own.

Just as they managed to corner Fabian and were about to make their escape, a group of thuggish-looking young men suddenly surrounded the Smith house. There were at least five or six of them.

Carlson’s face paled. “They’re here!”

It had been less than five minutes since Fabian’s call. For them to arrive so quickly, they had to be from the village.

Fabian scrambled to his feet, furious. “Disarm them!” he ordered. “Grab them!”
