“Come on, it’s not your fault. Nina’s not the type to get upset over something this small. It must be Ryan who made he mad, Grace said.
Ryan fell silent.
He thought, Just great. If Nina isn’t showing up with me, everyone just assumes I must’ve made her angry.
‘And of course, if Nina’s in a bad mood, it’s gotta be my fault. Alright, fine. Everything I do is wrong!”
Ryan rubbed his temples, feeling helpless. “I didn’t argue with Nina, and she’s not mad.
“She didn’t come today because she wanted to catch up with a friend. And the wedding’s postponed because that’s what wanted. Alright?”
“Is her friend a guy or a girl?” Charles asked.
Ryan hesitated. “A guy…”
Before Ryan could even finish, Charles jumped in, “Ryan, have you lost your mind? She’s off meeting some guy, and you let her go? Are you trying to let someone swoop in on your relationship?”
Ryan thought, ‘Perfect. No point explaining. The more I try, the worse it gets.
Ryan turned and headed for the door. “Get some rest, all of you.”
Seeing Ryan about to leave, Sophia hurried after him. “Ryan, wait up.”
Ryan stopped in his tracks. “What is it?”
Sophia said, “I still feel like it’s my fault Nina’s mad at you. I want to get her a gift, but I have no clue what she likes. Can yo help me out?”
Ryan thought, ‘So, all that explaining was pointless, huh?”
“Ryan, please, just tell me what Nina likes…” Sophia pleaded.
Before Sophia could finish, Ryan turned and walked away.
He didn’t even bother to say another word.
If he stayed any longer, he was afraid he’d actually die of frustration.
Sophia stood there, looking all upset. She just wanted to get Nina a gift to make up for messing up earlier.
‘Why is Ryan acting like this?‘ she thought.
Grace shot her a look. “Even though Nina doesn’t hold your past mistakes against you, you really should apologize. Go pick something out, it’s on me.”
Sophia drooped her head, looking defeated. “But I seriously have no idea what Nina likes.”

“It doesn’t matter what you get, as long as it comes from the heart,” Maria said. “Besides, Nina’s loaded. If she wants something, she already bought it herself. She doesn’t need you to buy her anything.”
Sophia was left speechless.
That hit right in the feels.
“Alright, enough already, just go. If you’ve got nothing better to do, stop hanging around here. You’re all such a handful, jus looking at you gives me a headache,” Zachary grumbled.
Maybe it was the poison messing with him, but Zachary was seriously cranky.
Sophia didn’t dare hang around any longer and made herself scarce.
Meanwhile, Nina had called Vincent more than twenty times before he finally picked up.
“Well, look who finally remembered me,” Vincent said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Nina rubbed her temples, not in the mood for his nonsense. “Where are you?”
“What’s up? Did you suddenly realize Ryan’s not the one for you, and now you want to come running back to me? Well, I—* Vincent started, but Nina cut him off.
Before he could finish, Nina cut him off, her voice icy. “Do you really think I can’t find you?”
Vincent went silent for a few seconds. “At Sherman Manor, the one you blew up.”
Nina hung up without another word and drove straight to Sherman Manor.
When Nina arrived, Walter was already waiting outside Sherman Manor.
“Ms. Swanson, Mr. Sherman is waiting for you in the main hall,” Walter said.
Nina nodded and followed Walter toward the main hall.
Sherman Manor, which Nina had blown up last time, looked as good as new.
It was like nothing had ever happened here.
Walter led Nina into the main hall, where Vincent had just finished brewing a pot of coffee.
He poured a cup for Nina and set it in front of her. “So, are you here to apologize to me on Ryan’s behalf? Planning to offer yourself as compensation?”
‘I’m not here to talk about that,” Nina said, locking eyes with Vincent.
‘So, what you’re saying is, I can finally take revenge on him?” Vincent eagerly interrupted, trying to catch a flicker of something in Nina’s eyes.
He’d once had a wild idea, getting Ruben to reach out to Samuel, plotting with him to go after Nina and Ryan.
He wanted to take Ryan out of the picture and trap Nina by his side for good. Once she had his kid, she’d have no choice but to stay with him.

But in the end, he eventually dropped the whole crazy plan.
With Nind’s skills, if he ever made a move, she’d crush him without breaking a sweat.
She might even retaliate and make things worse for him.
And if that happened, they wouldn’t even be friends anymore, and that was the last thing he wanted.
So, he decided to hold back and endure it
If he did nothing, maybe Nina would feel more quilty towards him since he was the victim.
That way, maybe he could still win Nina over someday,
Nind’s gaze was icy, “What do you think?
Ryan belonged to her, and she’d never let anyone lay a finger on him, let alone try to mess with him.
Vincent tried to pull one over on Ryan.
Ryan gave as good as he got, totally fair in her book.
And honestly, she just wanted Vincent to stop obsessing over her and finally let it go.
Vincent felt a sharp pain in his chest.
Figures, Vincent thought with a bitter smile. No matter what I do, I’ll never be the one she picks

Even though he’d tried to make peace with himself, seeing that icy look in Nina’s eyes, he couldn’t help but feel his heart ache uncontrollably,
The air grew heavy with silence.
Neither Vincent nor Nina said a word,
After a long silence, Nina finally spoke, her voice low and steady. “Samuel’s got his sights set on you. You and I are the key players in his game. So watch yourself”
Vincent chuckled, “Nina, guess you still care about me after all, huh?”
Nina rubbed her temples, her tone serious and sincere. “Vincent, whatever happens, our bond isn’t going anywhere.
I don’t have feelings for you, but that doesn’t mean I’d turn my back on you if your life’s on the line.”
Just friends, huh? Vincent said, a wry smile tugging at his lips.
He thought, ‘Yeah, that’s it! Their bond had already been labeled. They were just friends.
Nina just pursed her lips and kept quiet
