Having been bored all day, Gu Qibao trudged home with her school bag after school, never having imagined that Bo Chengxin would look for her.
As Gu Qibao was about to get into her car in the school’s parking lot, Bo Chengxin stopped her.
Gu Qibao turned around and, upon seeing Bo Chengxin, jumped out of sheer fear.
Suddenly she was at a loss for words. She used to call Bo Chengxin "Sister Xin", but she suddenly felt too guilty to say it out loud.
"You’re looking for me." Gu Qibao casually swung open her car door.
"Yes." Bo Chengxin nodded, with weariness and pallor showing all over her face.
Bo Chengxin was in a wheelchair. She rolled up to Gu Qibao. Despite being much shorter than Gu Qibao, she somehow managed to make Gu Qibao feel insecure.
"You need something?" Gu Qibao feigned indifference, hiding the guilt and fear in her heart. Despite often acting tough and brash, she was actually a pushover.
"I want to know what’s going on between you and Mingjue? Don’t you owe me an explanation?" Bo Chengxin’s voice was even weaker than hers. Her pale face radiated an almost transparent glow, flashing with uncertainty and evasion, as if she was the one who was scared.
Stunned by her question, Gu Qibao didn’t know what to say. She would like to say, "Let me explain it to you." But how can one explain such a thing? She’d slept with Di Mingjue, would explaining even help?
"There’s nothing going on between him and me. What explanation do you want?" She may have looked calm and composed on the surface, but her knees were about to buckle she was so scared of Bo Chengxin!
"Really, there’s nothing?" Suddenly, a soft, heart-pounding voice came, Gu Qibao froze in place. Was that Bo Chengyan speaking?
On her birthday, Bo Chengyan had been at the hospital performing a major operation, so he could not attend. Later, at Dihai Lantian, she had a makeup birthday celebration, invited him specifically so they could celebrate her birthday.
But he left before even having a chance to have a drink due to an emergency surgery at the hospital.
And yet, he stood here now, saying that the hospital, the surgeries, none of it was as important as Bo Chengxin. What did that imply? Was she too naive to understand?
As if someone tugged at her heartstrings, Gu Qibao began to have difficulty breathing.
Whenever she was in trouble, she panicked, got confused. There were always people like Nangong Ran around her in the past, or she could ask Di Mingjue for help. But now, she was all alone.
