Chapter 707 A Rare Masterpiece
Though she still struggled to read most werds, her phenomenal mefory more than made up for it. She had menurized every single transaction. Going through the books with Elowen, she broke down everything with absolute precision–detailing their grand opening, revenue, profits, and current inventory down to the smallest detail
Listening to her, Flowen grew increasingly impressed. Scarlet truly was the perfect manager for the Silverloom Exchange.
“You’ve done an incredible job, Scarlet, Elowen praised her warmly, holding back no compliments.
“It’s only because you trusted me,” Scarlet said, She paused for a moment, then added. “I’ve started learning how to write recently. I want to be able to read the ledger myself in the future, and maybe even keep them
Elowen nodded encouragingly, “Knowing you, that will be child’s play.”
Just then, a young shop assistant hurried into the room to report. “Your Grace, Scarlet–Lady Aveline has just arrived. She wants to pick out some fabrics personally, and she’s insisting on Scarlet assisting her. She won’t have anyone else.”
Hearing this, Scarlet stood up and bowed slightly to Elowen. “Excuse me for a moment, Your Grace. I’ll go tend to her.”
“Go ahead.”
With Elowen’s permission, Scarlet quickly smoothed down her dress and hurried out to the front.
Elowen took a small sip of her water just as Draven/stepped into the room. He lingered by the doorway, looking hesitant, as if weighing whether to speak.
Setting her cup down, Elowen said, “Go ahead, Draven. Speak your mind.”
Draven took a deep breath, stepped forward, and bowed respectfully. “Your Grace, I have a bold favor to ask,” he said, his voice carrying a note of pleading.
Elowen raised an eyebrow,
“My parents are pressuring me to marry a girl from my aunt’s clan,” Draven explained. “She’s arriving in Vanelle in a few days, and my mother is insisting that I be the one to go and receive her. I don’t want to defy my parents, but I want to hurt Scarlet even less. I’m at my wits‘ end, so I’ve come to beg for your help.”
Elowen smiled. “You’ve helped me in the past, and besides, Scarlet is one of my own. Since the two of you are so devoted to each other, I will absolutely help you.”
Draven let out a long, heavy breath of relief.
“Just let me know the exact day she is set to arrive in Vanelle,” Elowen instructed.
“I will!” Draven replied, overflowing with gratitude.

After reviewing the fabric inventory, Elowen headed to the back of the building to visit Finn’s new bookshop.
The moment Finn heard Elowen had arrived, he hurried over to present a novel like a prized treasure “Your Grace, take a look at this!”
Elowen glanced down and read the pen name on the cover. “The Last Wayfarer?”
This was the author Finn had mentioned back during the celebration for Caius and Emily’s baby. Recently, this writer and their books had taken Vanelle by storm, even threatening to eclipse the popularity Elower had enjoyed years ago under her own pen name, “Azure.”
“You asked me to track it down for you that day, and I didn’t forget,” Finn said with a broad grin, holding the book out to her with both hands. “The author is completely shrouded in mystery Have a look. Your Grace–see if you can guess who it is.”
Amused, Elowen took the book, flipped past the title page, and began to read.
By the end of the opening chapter, she completely understood why the novel had become such a sensation in the city. The writing was exceptional–sharp and precise where it counted, yet beautifully evocative in its quieter moments. The plot twists felt entirely natural rather than forced, and the characters were vivid without being exaggerated. It truly was a rare masterpiece.
The story was quite short, and Elowen finished it quickly. Turning to the final page, she blinked in surprise, seemingly caught off guard by how fast it had ended. She even flipped back a few pages in disbelief, but she had indeed reached the end.
“Well? What do you think, Your Grace? It’s good, right?” Finn asked, watching her with a smile.
“It’s very good,” Elowen praised genuinely.
Finn sighed, a look of wonder on his face. “If only we knew who they were. I had some people look into it, but all we found is that the manuscripts are left at the shop door every few days. No one has ever actually seen the person delivering them. The shop manager said that one morning, he opened up and found a greaseproof paper bundle on the ground, weighted down by astone. Inside was a thick stack of pages signed “The Last Wayfarer.’ It’s happened every three to five days, without fail, but we’re completely in the dark about their identity.” He paused, looking thoughtful. “The Last Wayfarer. Sounds like someone carrying a heavy heart.”
