Chapter 105 The Right Time
WILLOW
“We’re making it official,” he said quietly.
Frushed.
I was lying beside him, my head resting on his arm, our bodies still tangled beneath the sheets. The room was warm, and for once, my mind was completely still.
I tilted my head to look up at him.
He was already looking at me.
There was something in his eyes that made my chest tighten with certainty.
“As in… official, official?” I asked.
He let out a small breath, his fingers brushing lightly against my shoulder.
“Yes,” he said simply.
I held his gaze for a moment before looking away, my fingers absentmindedly tracing small patterns against his chest.
“Would you tell the whole world?” I asked.
The question came out before I could stop it.
He stilled slightly.
I swallowed.
“Because Marcus didn’t,” I added, my voice softer. “He hid me.”
Even saying it now still stung, though not as sharply as before Tristan did not hesitate to respond
“Do you want me to tell everyone now?” he asked immediately.
I was surprised at how quickly he said it. My head snapped back to him.
“Now?” I repeated.
He nodded, appearing completely serious.
“Yes,” he said. “I can.”
I stared at him. There was no doubt in his expression.
He meant it. He could say those words right here, right now.
“I have a lot of social media followers,” he added. “I can really tell the whole world at this moment.”

I shook my head quickly, a small laugh escaping me as I leaned forward and pressed my lips against his, cutting off whatever he was about to say next.
He stilled for a second before melting into the kiss, his hand sliding up to cradle the back of my head.
When I pulled away, I shook my head again, smiling faintly.
“No,” I said. “Not like that.”
He frowned slightly, appearing confused.
“Then how?” he asked.
I thought about it for a moment. Then, I realized something. I shifted slightly, wincing just a little from the soreness, but I ignored it as I looked back up at him.
“Since when have you started liking me?” I asked while I continued entertaining my thoughts.
For a second, he did not answer. Then he exhaled slowly, his gaze drifting to the ceiling as though he was replaying something in his head.
“Before Marcus started liking you,” he said.
I froze. I turned to him too quickly, my body protesting slightly.
“Really?” I exclaimed. My voice came out louder than I intended.
“Careful,” he muttered. “You’ll hurt yourself.”
“I am serious,” I said, ignoring him. “How is that even possible?”
He let out a small sigh, one hand coming up to rub the back of his neck.
“It’s a long story,” he said.
“I have time,” I replied immediately.
He glanced at me, then chuckled softly under his breath.
I narrowed my eyes slightly.
“Tristan.”
“Alright,” he said, raising a hand in surrender. He shifted slightly, adjusting so I was more comfortable against him.
“It started in high school,” he began.
“It was that early?”
He nodded faintly.
“Marcus used to talk about you,” he said.

My brows furrowed. That doesn’t sound promising. He didn’t like me back then.”
“It wasn’t,” he admitted.
I huffed softly.
“He thought you were a nuisance,” Tristan continued.
I pursed my lips. I already had a hunch.
Tristan glanced down at me, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
“You kind of were,” he teased.
I smacked his chest lightly.
“Hey.”
He laughed softly.
“But that’s what I heard,” he said. “That you were persistent, shy, and always around.”
“At the time, I didn’t think much of it,” he continued. “You were young. It was just… background noise.”
I stayed quiet, listening.
“But then,” he said, his voice softening slightly, “college happened.”
I felt his hand shift, tracing idle patterns on my arm.
“I saw you again,” he continued. “And you were different.”
I looked up at him.
He met my gaze.
“You were stronger,” he said simply. “Prettier.”
My heart skipped a beat.
“During those times, Marcus still thought you were a nuisance,” he said.
I let out a humorless laugh. “He’s consistent, at least.”
“But I didn’t see you that way,” Tristan added.
My breath hitched slightly.
“I started getting annoyed,” he admitted, “Because of the way he talked about you,” he clarified. “It didn’t match what I saw.”
I swallowed.

“He kept telling stories,” Tristan continued. “About how persistent you were. How you wouldn’t give up.”
I looked away slightly. That sounds embarrassing.”
“It wasn’t,” he said firmly.
I glanced back at him.
“It made me more curious about you,” he continued.
My chest tightened. “And then?” I asked softly.
“And then I realized I liked those stories,” he admitted.
“I liked how you were in them,” he said. “I liked that you didn’t give up.”
My heart pounded.
“And I found myself…” he paused briefly, shaking his head slightly. “Wanting you to be persistent for me.”
Everything inside me stilled. For a moment, I could not speak.
I just looked at him. Then, I leaned forward and kissed him. When I pulled away, I rested my forehead against his.
“It should have been you from the very beginning,” I whispered.
He went quiet. I pulled back slightly, looking at him properly.
“Why didn’t you pursue me?” I asked.
He sighed. “I’m sorry,” he said.
I raised a brow.
“I was a coward,” he admitted.
