Chapter 106 Too Close
WILLOW

It had been a month since Tristan and I decided to make things official. We had been working together for the launch, like most days, he was in my office to get some “work” done.
“Focus,” I muttered, though I was not sure if I was talking to him or to myself.
Tristan stood behind me, leaning slightly over my shoulder as he looked at the sketches spread across my desk. The Zinnia line was nearly complete now, refined and elevated beyond what I had originally envisioned. The collaboration with Hale had pushed it further and stronger.
“I am focusing,” he said.
I narrowed my eyes slightly, glancing at him from the corner of my vision.
“Your hand is not focusing,” I pointed out.
His hand was resting on my waist firmly and possessively.
He chuckled softly, sounding unapologetic.
“That’s part of the process,” he said. “I get inspiration when I hold onto your waist.”
I scoffed lightly.
“What process?”
“The part where I get distracted,” he replied easily.
I turned to face him fully, crossing my arms.
“You’re always distracted,” I said.
“And whose fault is that?” he countered with a confident smile.
I turned to the side to hide my reddening cheeks. He always spoke like this now, and it’s not always good for my heart.
“We did a good job,” he said, his voice lowering slightly, leaning closer. “It’s nearly done.”
My heart skipped a beat at the shift in his tone.
“Yes,” I said carefully. “We did. I didn’t think it would come to this.”
He stepped even closer.
“I want to kiss you,” he added.
I let out a small sigh, already knowing I had lost this battle before it even began.

“We still have some work to do,” I whispered.
“Is that a yes?” he countered.
I hesitated for a second before finally giving in. We only had the final touches anyway.
With that, his hand moved to my cheek, ilting my face upward as his lips met mine.
The kiss was slow at first, but it definitely did not stay that way.

It deepened quickly, his other hand pulling me closer until there was no space left between us. My fingers curled into his shirt, and for a moment, everything else faded away.
Until-
The door opened.
We broke apart instantly.
Fuck, I forgot to lock the door.
However, my surprise was quickly replaced with apprehension when I saw who it was. Marcus was looking at us, frozen, with Rocco behind him, appearing to be attempting to stop him.
Rocco pursed his lips, then lowered his gaze slightly.
“I apologize,” he said.
But there was something in his expression, something like satisfaction. It appeared he had just confirmed something he had been waiting to see.
On the other hand, Marcus moved fast, his fist flying toward Tristan.
“Marcus-!” I shouted.
But Tristan was faster. He caught his wrist mid–air, stopping the punch just inches from his face. The tension in the room spiked instantly.
“What are you doing?” I exclaimed, stepping forward.
Marcus yanked his hand back, his chest rising and falling heavily.
“I can’t believe this,” he said in disbelief and anger.
His eyes darted between us.

“So Serena was right,” he continued. “You really discarded our proposal because of him?”
My brows furrowed.
That’s not-”
“Is he that good in bed?” Marcus cut in sharply.

The words hit the room like a slap. My entire body went rigid.
“What does he have that I don’t?” he pressed.
“I’ll leave you,” Rocco muttered quietly, stepping back toward the door.
He closed it behind him.
And just like that, it was just the three of us.
Tristan exhaled slowly, his expression hardening.
“Leave,” he said flatly.
Marcus laughed bitterly.
“She doesn’t owe you anything.” Tristan continued. “And I don’t have anything for you either.”
Marcus ignored him completely.

shifted to me.
And then, he moved toward me.
“Willow-”
Before I could react, he tried to pull me into an embrace.
However, Tristan grabbed my arm and pulled me back against him.
“What the fuck are you doing to my woman?” Tristan snapped.
The words echoed in the room.
Marcus froze.
“Your woman?” he repeated, his voice rising.
His expression twisted.
“She’s mine!”
The sound of my hand meeting his face cut through the tension.
Marcus staggered slightly, stunned.
I stood there, my chest heaving.
“I told you to stop it,” I said firmly.
Silence fell again.
