Loving The Better Brother

Chapter 61 Forget

WILLOW

Two whole days had passed since Tristan’s confession, yet it felt like the words he said had taken permanent residence in my head.

I like you.

I’ve liked you for a long time.

Finished

I had replayed those sentences so many times that I was beginning to question whether they had actually happened or if I had imagined the entire conversation out of exhaustion.

He had done exactly what he promised. Tristan had left me alone.

No texts.

No calls.

No sudden appearances.

No quiet knocking at my door.

Yet the absence of his presence had not brought the peace I thought it would.

If anything, it had made things worse. Because when someone disappears from your surroundings, your mind begins filling the silence with questions.

I sighed as I stared at my reflection in the mirror while getting ready that morning.

My cheeks warmed slightly when I remembered the way he had looked at me that night.

I pressed both hands against my cheeks and shook my head hard.

Stop,I muttered to myself.

This was ridiculous. I leaned closer to the mirror before groaning.

Great.

Along with my red cheeks, my dark circles were absolutely horrifying. I honestly looked like a strawberry dipped in chocolate.

I look like hell,I muttered. Not even concealer could hide the damage two sleepless nights had done to my face.

I exhaled slowly and grabbed my bag. At this point, I did not even know what my schedule looked like

anymore.

My brain had been too busy replaying conversations with Tristan to properly organize my work.

I really needed to sort everything out.

My thoughts were an absolute disaster.

When I stepped outside, Kath was already leaning against the car, sipping iced coffee and enjoying the freshly trimmed garden.

She waved at me the moment she saw me.

Good morning, boss lady.”

I slid into the passenger seat and sighed.

Rocco was not there today. Kath had volunteered to drive me instead since she had been staying at the house.

She liked the place quite a lot, actually.

I suspected she enjoyed the spacious kitchen and the fact that my refrigerator was always fully stocked. She glanced sideways at me as she started the car.

Are you okay?

I nodded automatically.

I’m fine.

She hummed thoughtfully.

It must be tiring.”

Hmm.

That was the most honest response I could give.

You said a new launch is bound to happen soon, she continued. And I know how crazy things get before that.

Yes,I said.

That must be it.

I stared out the window as the car moved through traffic.

Everything was hectic.

What I did not tell her was that most of my exhaustion came from replaying Tristan Hale’s confession at three in the morning.

Kath suddenly shoved something into my hand. I blinked and looked down.

It was a warm cookie. Then she handed me a cup of coffee.

Emergency rations,she declared proudly.

I laughed softly despite everything going on.

Thanks, Kath.”

She grinned.

Break a leg today.”

I raised an eyebrow.

Not literally!

She waved both hands dramatically.

Just do great.

I’ll try.”

By the time we reached the office building, I felt a little more awake.

Kath dropped me off at the entrance and saluted me dramatically before driving away.

I walked inside the building, straightened my posture, and prepared myself for another day of chaos.

The moment I stepped into the office, I immediately regretted that decision.

Samantha was standing near the reception desk. She and Millie hadn’t left me alone ever since. I deflated their statements most of the time, but at that moment, I was just too tired to bother responding.

Her eyes widened theatrically as she approached.

Oh my gosh,she said loudly.

I did not stop walking, but she followed me anyway.

Willow, she continued, walking beside me like an annoying shadow.

Are those your new designer bags?

I ignored her. She leaned closer, squinting at my face.

Oh, wait,she gasped.

Those are eyebags.”

I kept walking. Honestly, two days ago, I might have entertained the idea of arguing with her.

Hey,she said.

Still, I did not respond.

Hey!

I stopped walking abruptly and turned toward her.

I stared at her calmly.

Not today.
