Chapter 79 Cared For

WILLOW

I woke slowly.

It took me a second to realize I wasn’t in my own house.

The bed felt different from mine. The sheets were softer, heavier, and the faint scent of hotel detergent lingered in the air. My body felt warm and relaxed in a way that only happened after a deep, uninterrupted sleep.

Then, the memories from the night before rushed back.

My eyes opened wider.

The first thing I noticed was that the other side of the bed was empty. The second thing I noticed was the clock on the bedside table.

It was 8:30 in the morning, which meant I had thirty minutes before I had to be at work.

I shot upright in bed.

Tristan!I exclaimed.

Across the room, Tristan turned slightly.

He was standing near the small dresser, already dressed in dark trousers and a crisp white shirt. The sleeves were rolled halfway up his forearms, and he was adjusting the cuff of his watch when he looked at

  1. me.

He looked ready to go.

Meanwhile, I still looked like a mess.

Why didn’t you wake me up?I demanded.

He glanced at me, smiling slightly.

You were fast asleep.

I stared at him in disbelief.

Tristan, I have work.

Yes, I know. We work the same hours, Ms. CEO.

My eyes narrowed.

You’re saying that very calmly.

Because there is no problem.

There is absolutely a problem,I said, throwing the sheets aside as I scrambled out of bed. I cannot be late for work.”

He slipped his watch into place and walked toward the small table near the door.

Don’t worry,he said.

I hurried toward my bag, pulling it and looking for my clothes in frantic movements.

We’ll get there on time.

I paused.

He nodded toward the table.

Your breakfast is ready. It’s on the go, so you can just eat it at your office. Your clothes are ironed, too. I had them done by the hotel this morning.”

It was true. On the table sat a small paper bag from a cafe downstairs, along with a cup holder carrying two coffees.

I pursed my lips, trying hard not to let the strange warmth spreading in my chest show on my face.

You didn’t have to do all of that.”

I know.

I picked up my clothes.

“I need five minutes.

You have ten, don’t worry. Take your time.”

I shook my head and hurried into the bathroom. The moment the door closed behind me, I leaned against it for a second.

This wasvery strange.

I quickly brushed my teeth, staring at my reflection in the mirror.

My hair was still messy from sleep, and my cheeks held a faint pink tint.

However, that was not what made me pause.

What made me pause was the feeling sitting quietly in my chest.

The realization that someone had woken up early, bought me breakfast, and planned our morning so I

would not be late.

No one had done that for me before.

I slowed down slightly as I rinsed my toothbrush.

Was it really like this?

Was this how it felt when someone genuinely cared about you?

The thought made my chest tighten in a way I did not fully understand. I had never felt like this when I was with Marcus.

I quickly splashed water on my face and pushed the thoughts aside.

I finished freshening up and stepped back into the room.

Everything was already arranged.

My bag was zipped. My coffee was waiting. The paper bag containing breakfast sat neatly beside it.

Tristan stood near the door, slipping on his jacket.

I stared at him.

Fuck.

He was making me feel things.

Ready?he asked.

I grabbed the coffee and nodded.

Yes.”

We left the room quickly and headed downstairs.

A few minutes later, I was seated in the passenger seat of his car again. And strangely enough, it already felt natural. The same quiet comfort from the night before returned immediately.

Tristan started the car and pulled smoothly onto the road.

We’ll be there in fifteen minutes,” he said. Just right on time.

I nodded and flipped open the small mirror in the visor.

Perfect.”

I quickly began applying a little makeup as the car moved through the morning traffic..

The city was already awake.

People walked along the sidewalks with hurried steps, taxis moved between lanes, and the morning sun reflected off the glass buildings ahead.

Tristan drove calmly through it all.

True to his word, we arrived at the office building in fifteen minutes.

The car slowed to a stop near the entrance.

I quickly capped my lipstick and closed the mirror.

Well,I said.

He looked at me.

Thank you.”

For what?

For not letting me be late.”

His expression softened slightly.

Anytime.”

I opened the car door.

Have a good day,he said suddenly.

I glanced back at him and couldn’t help but smile.

Have a good day, Tristan.”
