I cleared my throat awkwardly, wishing the ground would just swallow me whole, “O-oh. Hey, guys,” I said, forcing a smile. “I didn’t see you there”
Sierra raised a brow, clearly enjoying this far too much. “Of course you didn’t,” she said smoothly. “Why would you, when you were busy getting seduced?”
Silas nodded in agreement, his tone dry. “Exactly. It’s almost like we’re inconveniencing you just by existing.”
Penelope tilted her head, eyes sparkling with mischief, and winked at me. “I didn’t know you were into things like that, Violet. You always looked so innocent.”
My face burned even hotter at their teasing, and I waved my hals in a futile attempt to shut them up. “S-stop it. It’s not what it looks like.” I protested weakly, even though I knew how convincing that sounded. Just minutes ago, I’d been standing tall and ruthless, dismantling people without lifting a tiger, and now I couldn’t even meet my friends’ eyes without wanting to crawl into a hole and die from embarrassment.
Hades, on the other hand, looked completely unbothered. He gave a small, thoughtful nod beside me and said calmly, “They’re right. We should get a room.”
I snapped my head toward him. Not you too,
My face went completely red at that point, and the sight of it was enough to make my friends, and my traitorous brother, burst out laughing.
Penelope shook her head, still smiling, “When you told us not to intervene no matter what happened with those people earlier, I was honestly worried for a moment,” she admitted, “Bu after seeing how you handled it? Wow, Violet. I was completely wrong to doubt you. This is the second time you mage Nora kneel for you.”
At her words, my expression slowly shifted, the embarrassment fading as something darker settled into my eyes. “Yes, for now, she won’t cause any more trouble.” I paused, then added calmly, “This time, I’ll focus on Riley.”
Sierra nodded, swirling the drink in her hand as if this were all part of a well-planned script. “That makes sense. After all, she’s the one you want to destroy slowly,” she said thoughtfully didn’t expect you to start with her friend first, isolating Riley bit by bit so her life becomes more and more difficult.”
My main focus was never Nora. I didn’t even hate her. Hatred required effort, and Nora was never worth that much of my attention. To me, she was nothing, just a loud, desperate obstacle that kept throwing herself in my path over and over again.
If she hadn’t insisted on inserting herself into my life, I probably wouldn’t have spared her a second glance. What I truly wanted, what I had always wanted, was Riley.
Nora was only a tool, an easy one at that. By removing her, humiliating her, and stripping her of the social standing she clung to so desperately, I could completely isolate Riley, cut away her support system piece by piece, until she was left alone with nowhere to run and no one to cry to. And the best part was how simple it all was, because Nora never thought before she acted, never stopped to consider that every reckless move s made only tightened the noose around her own neck.
I looked at the people standing around me. I understood why elope and Kai would help me, they were my friends, people who had chosen me without hesitation. But Silas and Siera didn’t have to stand here with me, or get involved in something so messy and personal.
Even though they were close to Hades, even though they couldave easily remained neutral, they chose to help anyway,
I smiled at them, and said, “Thank you.” When they looked at e, slightly surprised, I added, “Thank you so much for everything. I don’t even know how to thank you enough.”

Penelope smiled warmly, the kind of smile that made you feel like you weren’t alone no matter how ugly things got. “There’s no need to thank us. That’s what friends do.”
Sierra nodded in agreement, her expression amused but sincere “Exactly. Besides,” she added with a teasing glance in Hades’s direction, “you’re doing the whole world a favor by keeping that devil on a leash. It’s only right that we help.”
When I turned to look at him, expecting at least a hint of irritation, I found none. He wasn’t angry, or offended. In fact, he didn’t even seem to care about what was being said around him. His eyes were only on me, as if nothing else in the room existed.
My heart stuttered painfully in my chest, the familiar tightness spreading through me. I wasn’t a fool. I knew exactly what I was feeling, even if I didn’t want to admit it. This wasn’t just about revenge anymore, wasn’t just about using his power to crush the people who had hurt me and my brother. Somewhere along the way, without my permission, I had started to fall in love with him.
The thought made me feel ridiculous. Why would I fall for someone so dangerous, someone the entire world feared? I asked myself that question, even as my heart betrayed me with every beat, I yearned for him more with each passing second. But before I could drown any further in those thoughts, Hades suddenly looked away from me, his expression shifting as if he had sensed something. His gaze landed somewhere behind me, and in an instant, the warmth in his eyes disappeared, replaced by something cold and dark.
I paused, confused, just as a deep, authoritative voice broke through the noise of the room. “So we finally meet,” the man said. “Will you introduce us to your fiancée, grandson?”
