Chapter 188

Violet

“Woah… Mr. Hades is really in love with his wife.”

The whisper wasn’t even subtle.

Another woman nearby let out a scoff. “In love? That’s obsession I thought I had seen everything in this world, but I have never seen a man this head over heels for a woman before.”

A few others nodded, their eyes fixed on us as if we were some rare phenomenon. “Tell me about it,” someone added. “At this point, if Mrs. Sinclair says she wants the moon, her husband will probably build a rocket and bring it down for her.”

A man laughed quietly. “That’s nothing. If she says she wants the whole world, he’ll hand it over without blinking,.even if the rest of us suffer for it.”

“Just remind me never to get on her bad side,” another voice muttered. “I don’t want to lose my life because I accidentally splash water on her dress.”

The words drifted around me, some filled with admiration, some with jealousy, some with fear. They were shocked, stunned beyond belief that someone like Hades Sinclair would publicly place himself beneath a woman, willingly no less.

I barely heard them. All I could see was him.

I stared at Hades, and what I found in his eyes stole the air from my lungs. There was no mockery there now. No cold calculation. Only love, devotion, and raw, unfiltered adoration that he didn’t even try to hide. And strangely, my heart felt at

peace.

It wasn’t because he had just declared in front of the entire elite circle that his life belonged to me. It wasn’t about the power or the position he handed over. It was because I knew he was trying.

Hades Sinclair was not a man who bowed. He wasn’t someone who treated people as equals; in his world, most were pieces on a chessboard, useful or disposable. And yet with me, he was different. He listened. He respected. He revealed parts of himself that no one else ever saw.

The devil the world feared was slowly changing. And he didn’t even realize it.

A soft smile curved on my lips. At that moment, I didn’t care that the two old men were still staring at me, one in shock, the other in clear displeasure that Hades had reduced their authority to nothing. I didn’t care about the whispers, the judgment, the tension. All I cared about was the man in front of me.

I parted my lips. “Hades-” The word barely left my mouth before the world tilted.

A strange dizziness washed over me without warning. My vision blurred at the edges, and a sudden wave of nausea rolled through my stomach so violently that I almost gagged. I lifted a hand to my head as my body swayed slightly, my balance slipping for a fraction of a second.

Before I could fall, strong arms wrapped around my waist. Hades pulled me firmly against his chest.

I frowned, confused and disoriented. What the hell was that?

“Violet.” His voice was no longer teasing or lazy, it was sharp, low filled with concern.

I blinked up at him.

His face was closer than before, his brows drawn together, his eyes scanning me rapidly as if searching for injuries. The warmth of his body grounded me, but the room still felt strange distant.

Chapter 188

“I’m fine,” I tried to say, but even to my own ears my voice sounded faint.

I became painfully aware of the silence around us again.

Everyone was watching.

Mr. Kim’s calculating gaze sharpened, suspicion flickering across his hollow eyes. Mr. Sinclair’s expression shifted into something more alert. Even the guests who had been whispering moments ago had gone completely quiet.

My eyes moved past them. They landed on Roman.

He was no longer standing as close to his father as before. His posture had changed, his weight shifted forward, as if he had instinctively taken a step toward me when I swayed. His jaw was tight, his eyes locked onto me like he was trying to see if I was okay.

It almost seemed like he had been about to rush forward. But he had stopped himself.

Hades’ grip on me tightened slightly, possessive and protective all at once. “What’s wrong?” he asked quietly, his thumb brushing against my side as if reassuring himself I was still okay

I swallowed, trying to steady my breathing.

“I don’t know,” I admitted softly. But deep down, beneath the dizziness and the nausea, a strange thought flickered in the back of my mind, but I brushed it off. I was probably overthinking things again.

I looked away from Roman and forced myself to focus on the only person that mattered.

I tilted my head up at Hades and forced a small smile onto my lips. “I’m okay,” I said softly, as if saying it firmly enough would make it true.

He looked at me. Those blue eyes didn’t miss anything, and I could tell immediately he didn’t believe me. His jaw tightened almost imperceptibly, but he didn’t question me. Instead, his arm slid around my waist, and before I could even process what he was about to do, the ground disappeared beneath my feet.

I gasped as he lifted me effortlessly into his arms.

The entire hall seemed to freeze for the second time that night. Even the tension between the two patriarchs dulled under the shock of Hades Sinclair carrying his bride out of their own wedding party like some possessive king claiming his queen.

“Hades!” I hissed under my breath, my eyes widening as I clutched his shoulder for balance. “What are you doing? Put me down.”

He didn’t even glance at me. He simply adjusted his hold, one arm under my knees, the other firm around my back, pulling me closer against his chest.

“I’ll be taking you home,” he said calmly.

My face burned instantly. “Okay, fine, but let me down. I can walk to the car. You don’t have to carry me.”

Silence.

Then that infuriating, satisfied smile curved his lips. “Be good, princess.” he murmured. And just like that, he turned and began walking toward the exit as if carrying me out in front of hundreds of guests was the most natural thing in the world.

I sighed internally. There was no point arguing. Once Hades decided something, the world could collapse and he still wouldn’t change his mind. So much for him “learning restraint. He was still as shameless as ever, doing exactly what he wanted without caring who watched. This had to be the first time in history that the bride and groom left their own wedding party before the guests even touched dessert.

As we reached the entrance, Hades suddenly stopped.

For a moment, I thought he might finally put me down. Instead, he turned slightly, just enough to face both his father and his grandfather. His head tilted lazily, but his eyes were anything but relaxed.

“Before I leave,” he said, “let me give you a word of advice.”

The room held its breath.

“If either of you even thinks about touching a single hair on her head,” he continued, his voice calm but deadly, “I’ll ruin everything you’ve ever worked for in a minute.”

No one doubted him.
