In the same dark, heavy room, Andrew slowly regained consciousness. His eyes opened, icy and
empty.
“You’re awake?” A young man in a white coat noticed him stirring and hurried over, concern on
his face.
Andrew pushed himself up, leaning against the headboard. His voice was like ice. “So I didn’t die.”
“Are you disappointed?” Walter Eberhart, the man in the white coat, felt a headache coming. Andrew’s attitude toward his own life was always so indifferent.
When Walter had received the urgent call from Darryl and rushed over, Andrew was already unconscious from blood loss. Examining the wound had shaken him deeply.
A four–inch fork had been driven into his chest. Just a little deeper, and it would have pierced his heart.
Yet incredibly, Andrew had survived. To Walter, a skilled doctor, it seemed like a medical miracle.
“Where is she?” Andrew ignored Walter’s complaint. His sharp gaze turned to the middle–aged man standing nearby.
“Sir, she disappeared right after she hurt you.”
“Andrew, who is that woman? What did you do to make her try to kill you? When we find her, we’ll make her pay,” Walter said angrily.
But Andrew’s glare stopped him. Violence flashed in his eyes. “If you touch her, I’ll deal with you first.”
Walter was speechless. He looked hurt. “I was just trying to stand up for you. That woman almost killed you.”
A faint smile touched Andrew’s usually stern face. “But she said she likes me.”
Walter stared in shock.
This man–the famously ruthless heir of the Mohler family, known for his dark temper and cold demeanor–never smiled. He was always aloof and controlled.

“Don’t tell me you’ve fallen for the woman who almost killed you?” Walter asked, horrified.
Andrew looked down. “Probably.”
Walter was stunned.
So this was what love looked like for a dark, twisted man like Andrew–dangerous and messed
Before this, many pretty women had tried to win Andrew’s affection with sweet words and smiles. He never paid them any attention.
But the one who nearly ended his life? That was the one he liked..
Walter asked, “Andrew, what do you even like about her?”
He desperately wanted to know what kind of woman could capture this man’s interest at first sight.
“She’s beautiful. And I like her personality.”
Beautiful, maybe. But her personality?
Walter was speechless. Remembering the wound, his scalp still tingled. She had shoved the entire fork into his chest. The pain must have been unbearable.
How ruthless was that woman?
And in Andrew’s mind, being ruthless and ready to kill counted as a good personality?
Walter shook his dizzy head. As crazy as it sounded, nothing about Andrew surprised him
anymore.
He had seen Andrew at his most terrifying. One moment he could be sharing a meal and laughing with someone; the next he could pull out a gun and end their life without warning.
Even though they had grown up together, Walter was still afraid of him. Andrew’s mind was twisted. The more you knew him, the scarier he became.
Trying to make sense of a dark, twisted tycoon’s thoughts was pointless–one would never
crack them.
“Darryl,” Andrew said, his voice firm. “I want all her information. Within a day.”
“Yes, sir,” the middle–aged man replied.
