Chapter 20 Not Worthy of My Sister

Jose’s parents heard this. Though clearly unhappy, they just wanted to get rid of this troublesome country girl.

“Fine. Let’s break the engagement. We agree.”

Clara, who had been pale, finally relaxed. Color slowly returned to her face.

Thank goodness. At least Jose wasn’t engaged to Margaret.

Right now, Jose was still kneeling on the floor, forced to look up at Margaret.

She seemed too noble, too dazzling. It felt like no one in the world was good enough for her- like no one deserved her.

Her words made his chest rise and fall heavily. Humiliation burned through him.

At the same time, hearing her say she wanted to break the engagement sparked panic inside him. He felt like he was losing something important, something he couldn’t replace.

“Margaret, I don’t agree! You can’t call off the engagement!” Jose snapped.

He was the proud heir of the Miller family. Even if the engagement ended, it should be his decision.

And he had this ridiculous thought: if the engagement was canceled, in that arrogant Margaret’s eyes, he would become nothing.

“Jose…”

Hearing Jose refuse to end the engagement, Clara turned pale again. She looked so fragile, as if a light breeze could knock her over.

“Margaret, I don’t agree either! Your marriage is up to us to decide!” Matthew raised his voice to stop her.

Right now, in the Tucker family or the Tucker Group, the real power was in his eldest son’s

hands.

Partnering with the Miller family was his best chance to improve his status within the Tucker family. He couldn’t lose that card.

In Matthew’s eyes, Margaret was just acting out today. She had been through a shock, and her personality had changed. But he believed that in a few days, she would calm down. Deep down, she was still that shy, insecure country girl, easy to control like before.

Before Margaret could speak, a frosty voice cut through the air. It was deep and magnetic, carrying the weight of a final decision.

The hall doors swung open. A tall man in a black coat walked in, his figure outlined by the light behind him. His presence felt overwhelming, like a king arriving.

“It’s the Tucker family’s eldest son–their current head. The most brilliant and feared figure of Capaville in recent years–Edward Tucker!”

Everyone turned to look, shocked. A sense of awe filled the room.

Edward was famous in Capaville for his ruthlessness. He didn’t even show respect to his own father.

At 18, just after becoming an adult, he joined forces with other members of the Tucker Group to oust his father from power. He not only became the CEO of the Tucker Group but also took hold of the reins as the ruler of the Tucker family.

He was cold–blooded and didn’t care about family bonds. His methods were brutal, but he was. incredibly capable. Under his leadership, in just ten years, the Tucker family rose from a first- class family to one of the top four families in Karemin.

That was an amazing achievement.

Many first–class families dreamed of joining the top four. But it was very hard. Some tried for a hundred years and still failed.

But Edward achieved in ten years what others couldn’t in a lifetime. That was how terrifying he

was.

In high society, everyone knew: there were two people in Capaville you should never mess with. One was the mysterious heir of the Mohler family–rumored to be unstable, like a ghost in the dark. The other was the sharp and ruthless Edward.
