His Fault

Luna’s POV

I cried for about ten minutes before I finally managed to get myself to stop long enough to think about what I was supposed to do next. My chest still felt tight, my eyes were burning, and every time I looked toward my ruined bed or the clothes scattered across the floor, another wave of anger and sadness came over me. I wanted to call Ivy immediately, but then I remembered that she had told me about an important class that second-year film students had to attend with the third-year students, and I figured she was probably already busy. The last thing I wanted was to disrupt her day because of my problems, especially when I knew she would probably leave whatever she was doing and rush back to me if she knew what had happened. I did not want her to worry about me more than she already did.

For a moment, I wondered if I should call Jace instead, but even thinking about that made me hesitate. I had only agreed to become his girlfriend, and yet here I was considering calling him because someone had destroyed my room. It felt like I was already becoming dependent on him, and that was something I did not want. Still, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I needed someone, and Jace was probably the one person who would understand just how serious this was.

Moon seemed to agree with that thought because she kept pushing the same feeling into my mind, almost as if she was telling me to stop overthinking and just call him. I was about to reach for my phone when it suddenly started ringing in my hand, and when I looked at the screen and saw Jace’s name, I did not even think twice before answering.

“Are you okay?” Jace asked immediately.

The sound of his voice was enough to break whatever little control I had managed to gather. My lips trembled, my throat tightened, and before I could even answer him properly, I burst into tears again. I heard him go quiet for a second, and I could almost imagine the way his face must have changed when he heard me crying. I tried to speak, but all that came out was a broken sound that made me feel even more embarrassed. I wanted to tell him what had happened, but the words refused to come. My eyes moved toward the ruined room again, and another tear slipped down my cheek. I pressed the phone closer to my ear and tried to take a breath, but before I could say anything useful, I heard his voice again, this time much firmer.

“I’m on my way,” he said.

The call ended before I could respond. I stared at my phone in confusion for a few seconds, wondering if he was actually serious. Had he really just dropped everything and decided to come here because I was crying? A part of me hoped he had, while another part immediately started worrying about what I was supposed to do when he arrived. I looked down at myself and realized that I was still wearing the short shorts and damp tank top I had put on after my bath.

Normally, I would not have cared, but my room was destroyed, and almost every piece of clothing I owned was either on the floor or covered in the red substance. If Jace really was coming, I did not want to stand in front of him looking like I had just walked out of the bathroom. I quickly turned toward Ivy’s wardrobe, thinking that maybe I could find something I could borrow. I did not even care if the clothes were too big or too small. I just needed something clean to wear. I had barely taken two steps toward the wardrobe when a knock sounded against the door.

My entire body froze. The sound was not loud, but it immediately sent fear through me. I looked toward the door, my heart beginning to race as several possibilities entered my mind at once. Maybe the girls who had

destroyed my room had come back. Maybe they had decided that ruining my belongings was not enough and wanted to confront me directly. Maybe it was another group of girls who had heard about Jace and me and had come to make things worse for me.

My hands became cold, and for a few seconds, I could not make myself move. I had never thought of my dorm room as a place where I needed to be afraid, but after what had happened, even the sound of someone knocking felt threatening. I took a small step backward and stared at the door, wondering if I should answer at all. Then I heard a familiar voice from the other side, and the fear that had taken over my body slowly began. to disappear.

“Luna, are you in there?” Jace called.

I let out a shaky breath that I had not even realized I was holding. The moment I heard his voice, something inside me relaxed. I walked toward the door and unlocked it with slightly shaking fingers before pulling it open. The moment I saw Jace standing there, looking worried and out of breath like he had rushed over as quickly as he could, my eyes filled again. I did not even get the chance to say hello before I started crying.

Jace’s expression changed immediately, and he stepped inside without hesitation, wrapping his arms around me. I pressed my face against his chest and cried harder. His arms came firmly around me, holding me close while one of his hands moved slowly over my back.

“I’m here,” he said quietly.

I held onto his shirt, unable to answer. He waited until I had stepped fully inside and closed the door behind him before looking around the room, and the moment his eyes landed on the destruction, his entire expression changed. His jaw tightened, his eyes moved over my ruined bed, the clothes on the floor, the destroyed books, and the damaged gym bag, and then his face hardened with anger.

“What the hell!” he hissed.

I pulled back slightly when I heard the fury in his voice, and he immediately looked at me instead of the room. He did not yell, but I could see the anger in his eyes. He looked like he was struggling to control it, and for some reason, seeing him react that way made my tears start falling again. Jace took a slow breath before looking at the damage once more, and then he turned back to me.

“Who did this?” he asked calmly.

I shook my head because I honestly did not know. I wiped at my face with the back of my hand, but more tears followed.

“I don’t know,” I managed to say through my sobs.

Jace’s expression softened immediately. He pulled me back into his arms and held me against him again, this time even more firmly than before. His hand moved gently over the back of my head while he tried to calm me down. I could feel how tense his body was, and I knew that underneath his calm voice, he was furious.

Still, he did not let his anger control the way he treated me.

“Stop crying,” he said gently. “Everything is going to be okay.”

I shook my head against his chest, unable to believe those words. How could everything be okay when my room looked like this? How could I pretend it was nothing when almost everything I owned had been destroyed because of something connected to him? The tears continued falling as I tried to speak.

Jace’s arms tightened around me, and he rested his cheek lightly against the top of my head. For a moment, he said nothing, as if he was trying to find the right words. Then his voice came again, lower and filled with
