Married at First Sight (Serenity and Zachary) novel Chapter 5240

They contained two outfits, gifts from Serenity to Fu Wanning: a women’s suit that Fu Wanning had chosen herself, and a dress that Serenity had picked out for her.
Fu Wanning disliked wearing skirts. With a tomboyish personality and a long-standing androgynous style, she was truly unaccustomed to wearing skirts. When was the last time she wore one?
It must have been when she was four or five years old.
She remembered that after she turned six, she stopped wearing skirts. As a child, she looked more like a boy. When she went out with her grandfather or mother, people always mistook her for a little boy. When
people asked her mother if she was a boy, her mother would always smile with a hint of sadness and say that she was a girl, wishing she were a boy.
Fu Wanning knew that her mother wished she were a boy. Her mother always said that her father’s family had only one son for generations, and in her generation, she was the only girl; she had no brothers or sisters. She has no cousins, only maternal cousins, who are relatives from her mother’s side of the family.
Her father’s side of the family consists only of distant relatives, the closest being her father’s maternal uncles, with whom she doesn’t keep in close contact anymore. She maintains frequent contact with her mother’s relatives, but Fu Wanning dislikes her aunts and uncles because they are always trying to extract benefits from the Fu family, plotting to seize and divide the Fu Group.
She’s twenty-eight and still single, which her aunts and uncles are very anxious about, constantly introducing her to boyfriends, eager to marry her off.
It’s as if marrying her off would prevent her from inheriting the Fu Group, without considering that she has already taken over the company.
Even if she marries, she will still be a member of the Fu family, and everything in the Fu family will still be hers; her maternal uncles can forget about it.
Her grandfather has privately told her that the people she needs to be most wary of are her mother’s relatives, because they are her mother’s blood relatives, and her mother is caught in the middle, making it difficult for her to be in the right place at the wrong time. Moreover, her mother is easily influenced and can be manipulated by her siblings.
Fu Wanning was grateful that her grandfather had been her teacher since she could remember. He was thankful that her mother hadn’t remarried after her father’s early death, nor had she heeded her family’s advice to abort her. He
was even more grateful that her mother had remained a widow for over twenty years, raising her.
But her grandfather knew her mother’s temperament well. If she were raised by her mother, she might be spoiled. And if she were spoiled, how could she possibly protect the Fu Group after his passing?
If she were raised by her mother, she would be closer to her maternal and paternal relatives and obey them.
If her grandfather were gone, even if she took over the Fu Group, they would control her, and the group would gradually fall into their hands.
In the end, whether she and her mother would survive was uncertain.
Her grandfather said that sometimes, the person who hurts you the most is often the one closest to you.She was told to be wary of all her mother’s relatives. Although her grandmother’s relatives also had some ambitions, they were a generation apart and not as brazen as her mother’s relatives.
Aunt Hai said she would look beautiful in a dress and suggested she try it on for a couple of days, since she wasn’t working and could treat it as a holiday.
Under Aunt Hai’s persuasion, and because Fu Wanning really liked the dress Aunt Hai had picked out for her, she finally accepted the dress Serenity had given her.
It was quite late when they returned to the hotel.
Fu Wanning said to Serenity, feeling embarrassed, “Aunt Hai, I’ve taken up your entire evening.”
“Auntie is free in the evenings anyway. I’m very happy that you accompanied me shopping. I should be thanking you,”
Serenity smiled. “If you want to go shopping again tomorrow night, remember to call me. I usually don’t socialize in the evenings anymore. I’m getting old and don’t want to go out drinking.”
“Aunt Hai is still very young, not old at all. You and President Zhou look like siblings.”
“My age is what it is, I’m definitely not young anymore. Compared to you, I’m an auntie.” “Auntie takes excellent care of herself. My mother doesn’t take as good care of herself as you, although my mother is a few years older than Aunt Hai.”
Fu Wanning was telling the truth. Her mother didn’t have much financial pressure, regularly went for beauty treatments, used the best skincare products, and drank plenty of beautyenhancing soups. Compared to Serenity, she felt her mother looked ten years older.
In reality, her mother was only two years older than Serenity.
Fu Wanning felt that Serenity looked younger because Serenity had a happy and fulfilling life, with a beloved husband and two children, unlike her mother who had been widowed at a young age.
Her mother’s life hadn’t been easy for the past twenty-eight years.
