Both of them were busy, so there was no way they could take an entire month off for a honeymoon. However, both their companies had about two weeks of paid time off at the end of the year. If they held the wedding before leaving for their honeymoon, they could still spend around ten days together.
Plus, if they took a few more days to rest, they could enjoy themselves for nearly half a month before returning to work.
Hearing this, Devon broke into a wide smile. "Sure. I'm ready to register our marriage anytime. In fact, I've been preparing for it since the day we became adults."
Chloe laughed. "You've been preparing for this a little too long."
Devon chuckled.
"Chloe, I want to propose to you properly. Whatever other women have, you should have too. I won't let you feel like you've been shortchanged."
It was not as though Devon had never proposed to her before.
He did once when he was twenty-five, but Chloe had told him that they were still young and there was no rush. At that time, both of them had begun taking over their respective family businesses. After Chloe turned him down, he put the proposal on hold.
Chloe always said that she would marry him around the age of thirty. He did not expect her to be willing to get married ahead of schedule.
"You've already proposed before. And we grew up together. We're so familiar with each other that I really don't care if we go through all those formalities."
"That was before. This time, I haven't proposed yet. Chloe, give me a few days to prepare. I want everyone to know that I proposed to you and you said yes. Then, we'll go register our marriage."
Chloe asked, "Are you worried people will find out that I'm the one who suggested we register our marriage, and they’ll say I'm desperate to get married? Who cares what other people think? Our lives have nothing to do with them."
"It's not that. I'm the desperate one. I even dream about marrying you. I don't care what anyone else says. What I care about is that you get everything you deserve."
Devon insisted on following every step of the way. If even one part of the process was missing, he would feel as though Chloe was getting less than she deserved.
