Laurence looked at her with warm and tender eyes. "She deliberately pushed me to get married to force me to confess my feelings for you. Did you think they couldn't tell how I felt? They all knew. Even the younger ones could see it.

"Noelle, I regret it. I regret not telling you how I felt sooner. If I had confessed earlier and we'd gotten married sooner, our children might already be in preschool by now."

Noelle was silent.

"I was always worried something might happen to me. I was afraid I'd drag you down and ruin the rest of your life, so I kept my feelings bottled up and didn't dare to confess.

"But after Mom and Master gave me a good talking-to, I finally understood. We've been inseparable for years. If something happened to either of us, the other couldn’t just carry on as if nothing happened.

"Noelle, when should we find a time to register our marriage? We'll never leave each other for the rest of our lives."

A blush bloomed on Noelle's cheeks. Fortunately, she was sitting in the passenger seat and did not turn around, so Laurence could not see her face.

The driver cleared his throat.

"Mr. Laurence, I'm still single. Can you two please spare my feelings?"
