Chapter 25: Panic-1
(Author’s POV)
Jasper stood frozen, his gaze locked on the empty doorway where Aurora had disappeared. A knot of anxiety tightened in his chest. Just before she vanished, he saw her hand fly to her stomach.
Did she hit it when he shoved her?
The thought made his blood run cold. She was supposed to be three months pregnant, yet she looked frail, her silhouette razor-thin. She didn’t look like an expectant mother; she looked like she was fading away.
“Daddy!” Rosalind huffed, crossing her arms. “Stop looking at the door. Are you thinking about the bad woman again?”
Jasper blinked, snapping back to the present. He forced a stiff smile and patted Rosalind’s head absently. He turned to Sienna, scanning her quickly.
“Are you hurt?”
Sienna shook her head, offering a brave, trembling smile. “I’m fine, Jasper. Just shaken.”
“Good,” Jasper said, already backing toward

“Okay,” Sienna whispered.
She watched him leave, her smile fading into a cold, hard line. She knew that look in his eyes. It
wasn’t business. It was guilt. He was going after Aurora.
Inside the room, Sienna turned to the pouting child. Her voice dripped with saccharine sweetness.
“Rosie, darling,” Sienna cooed, smoothing the girl’s hair. “If your mommy doesn’t want you anymore,
would you like me to be your new mama?”
Rosalind’s face lit up instantly. “Yes! I want you! I love Mama Sienna best!”
(Aurora’s POV)
The hospital corridor stretched out like a funhouse mirror, warping and twisting with every step. My legs felt like lead. The emotional exhaustion of the confrontation, combined with the lingering weakness from the miscarriage, hit me all at once.
I reached the elevator bank, my vision blurring at the edges. The floor seemed to tilt violently to

the left.
Panic-1
*Damn it, body. Move.*
I tried to grab the handrail, but my fingers couldn’t find purchase. The world went black as my
knees buckled.
I didn’t hit the cold tile. Instead, I fell into a wall of solid warmth.
Strong arms wrapped around me, holding me upright with effortless strength. Through the haze, I tried to push away.
*Who the hell is touching me?*
My senses were overwhelmed by the crisp scent of cedarwood and a faint trace of tobacco. It
wasn’t Jasper. It was darker, richer. Then, darkness took me completely.
(Author’s POV)
Jasper sprinted into the main lobby, his eyes scanning the crowd frantically. She wasn’t there. He
checked the parking lot entrance. Nothing.
“Oh my god!” a woman screamed near the stairwell. “A pregnant woman just fell down the stairs! They’re rushing her to the ER!”
The words struck Jasper like a physical blow. The air left his lungs.
“Aurora,” he choked out.
He didn’t think. He didn’t care about the bodyguards trailing him. He broke into a dead run,
sprinting toward the Emergency Room like a madman.
He burst through the double doors, his face wild with panic. “Where is she?” he roared at a nurse.
“My wife! Save my wife and child!”
Two orderlies stepped in his path, blocking him. “Sir, you need to stay back!”
“Is that your wife in trauma one?” a large, burly man next to him bellowed, his face red with rage.
Jasper nodded frantically. “Yes! Is she okay?”
The man didn’t answer. He swung a fist the size of a ham hock and connected squarely with
Jasper’s jaw.
*Crack.*
Jasper stumbled back, tasting blood.
“You son of a bitch!” the man screamed, lunging again. “You’re the homewrecker? You got my wife,

Mrs. Johnson, pregnant?”
Security guards swarmed them, pulling the thrashing man off Jasper.
“Let me go! He ruined my family!” the man shouted.
Jasper touched his throbbing cheek, dazed. “What? My wife is Aurora.”
A nurse looked up from a computer. “Sir, the patient in trauma one is a Mrs. Johnson. She’s
forty-five.”
The adrenaline crashed. Jasper stood there, panting, his suit disheveled and his eye already swelling shut. He looked around at the staring crowd, humiliation burning his neck. He pulled a pair of sunglasses from his pocket and shoved them on to hide the bruising.
He walked back to the VIP ward in silence, sticking to the shadows. When he entered, he kept his
back to Sienna.
“Jasper?” Sienna asked, sitting up. “What happened?”
“Nothing,” Jasper lied, his voice tight. “Handled some trouble downstairs. Walked into a door.”
His heart was still hammering. The sheer terror he felt at the thought of losing the baby had
clarified everything. He wanted that child. He couldn’t lose it.
“I need to go to the office,” he said abruptly, grabbing his coat. “The situation is worse than I
thought.”
He didn’t wait for a reply. He walked out.
Sienna waited exactly two minutes. Then she walked out to the security station. She found a guard
who looked tired and underpaid. A thick envelope of cash changed hands.

Chapter 25: Panic-2
“I need to see the hallway footage from ten minutes ago,” she said coldly.
The guard obliged. On the grainy screen, Sienna watched Jasper running. He looked desperate.
Broken. He was sprinting as if his life depended on catching Aurora.
Ice filled her veins. He still cared. He cared too much.
She stared at the screen, her nails digging into her palms. Thank god the baby was already gone. If
that child existed, she would never win him.
(Aurora’s POV)
I woke up to the smell of antiseptic masked by expensive room diffusers.
I blinked, disoriented. I wasn’t in the hospital hallway. I was in a suite that looked more like a
five-star hotel room.
“You’re awake.”
I turned my head. Phineas Everett sat in a leather armchair by the window, reading a tablet. He looked impeccable, as always.
He stood and poured a glass of ginger ale. “Low blood sugar,” he said, handing it to me. “You fainted. I caught you.”
I took the glass, my hand shaking slightly. “Where am I?”
“Dr. Daniel North’s private clinic,” Phineas replied calmly. “I figured you wouldn’t want to wake up
and see Jasper’s face, so I had you moved.”
