(Author’s POV)
"No~ ... you can’t have them," Myra muttered, her tone defiant, her eyes blazing like wildfire.
Elisa gave her an amused look and asked, "And why do you say that?"
Zeroing her hazels on Elisa, Myra mouthed word by word, "Because~ ... the Everests Brothers are mine." Her tone was firm, possessive even. "I, Myra Miracle, am their fated mate. So, you, Elisa, demon queen or whatever you are, cannot claim my mates. They belong to me."
Listening to her confession, Elisa was left dumbfounded, her mouth wide open in shock. But that lasted only for five seconds. She cackled and then burst out loud like a child, "HAHAHAHHAH ahhahahhahah~~ .... you are there, what? ..... BwaHAhahahAHaahaha ...." Her hand was on her mouth as she continued her maniacal laughter to Myra’s face. Her devotees joined in again; their shared laughter casting an eerie chill to the atmosphere.
On Elisa’s open mocking, neither Myra’s eyes nor her body language faltered; they remained as is.
Seeing her this confident, Elisa cut short her laughter and spoke, her voice full of contempt, "For someone so denigrated, you sure dream big, uhh? A human mutt being paired with a werewolf. I haven’t heard that once in my near millennial time. And you are claiming that not just one of them~ ... but you are bonded with all four Lycan Alphas? Myra, oh, Myra~ .... I knew you were an ambitious bitch but never thought you were that greedy, hmm. What~ .... not going to act like your usual goody to shoes self anymore, huhh?"
"I only spoke the truth," Myra uttered, without any fear.
Seeing her fearlessness, Elisa was pissed; her eyes narrowed. She grabbed Myra by the neck roughly and snarled, "Shameless wretch. Don’t you dare act cocky in front of me. You measly pest, the Lycan Alphas are mine; I own them now." She wrung it, making Myra lose her breath.
Myra, clutching Elisa’s hands desperately, replied, her voice tight from the pressure, "What? Got your little ego hurt? Or did the truth bruise your sentiment?"
Elisa compressed her hand even tighter around her neck, her nails digging, ready to rip her throat. But even this did not stop Myra; it only made her bolder. Chokingly, she said, "You cann~ot o~wn any~ of th~em. The~y are n~ot y~our pro~per~ty. The~y ar~e my~ mat~es." She dared to say this even though the lack of oxygen had made her face go reddish purple.
Aamon stepped in immediately. Holding Elisa’s wrist, he spoke, his voice lowered, "My queen, she is just trying to provoke you. Don’t do anything rash. This human sacrifice’s blood is still needed to complete the ritual. Calm down, or else everything will be for nought."
Elisa snapped out of it at once and let go of Myra, knocking her like disposable trash to the ground. Clasping her neck, Myra heaved heavily, trying to eat out the air as much as she could.
Witnessing the whole scene and seeing the angry finger marks on Myra’s neck, a chord was struck in the depths of all the Lycan brothers’ hearts. They all were aroused from their deep slumber, something their wolves had been struggling to do.
