(Author’s POV)
"So~ ... may I?" Elio asked for her permission, his eyes trembling.
Myra didn’t waste any time and gave him her hand. When Elio held it, Myra felt the tremor resonating from their contact. The majestic royal prince of Lionheart Kingdom was nervous because of her. He paused, the ring balanced between them, waiting for the final and most important moment of their lives.
Just as the cold metal brushed against the tip of Myra’s ring finger, a heavy thudding sound boomed from above, startling them thoroughly. Everyone present looked at the sky, which had now turned grey and ominous. Myra felt her heart thumping against her rib cage, her eardrums ringing, and her hair stood on end. Warning sirens were flaring in her brain, telling her that something wasn’t right.
She tried to grab hold of Elio’s arm, but before she could, a thunderstroke crashed between them, throwing them apart. The spot where they had been standing just a moment ago was cracked open.
Elio, because of his sheer strength and combat skills, steadied himself before colliding with the pillar. But the same couldn’t be said for Myra. She lurched from the impact, her body flying backwards.
Myra’s eyes trembled when she saw her soul getting separated from her body. She floated midair; her spirit passed through the giant pillar, but her body didn’t. Her head and back rammed right into the limestone column, blood gushing down from the back of her head instantly.
Elio screamed for her, his throat producing a gruff howl, "MYRAAAAAAAAAAAAA~~~~~~ ...." Forgetting about everything else, he rushed towards her.
A painful groan escaped the Myra who was lying on the ground, "Arghh~ ...." as she opened her eyes slightly.
Elio reached her and took her into his arms, his eyes bloodshot, his voice shivering and urgent, "Myraaaa~ .... Myra~ .... listen to me. Stay with me. Keep your eyes open. Nothing will happen to you. I won’t let anything happen to you. Please, please~~~~ .... stay with me."
Myra hummed exhaustingly, though her mind was showing signs of slipping away. Her vision was hazy and partially blurry.
Elio shouted, angry, "HEALER~ .... SOMEONE CALL THE HEALER." But the crowd was already running awry because of the sudden powerful attack.
Just when he was about to take her to the healer himself, the woman in the emerald outfit came dashing their way, her face etched with feigned tension. "Brother Elio, it’s the Cursed Hound Hyenas. They are the ones behind this attack." She glanced at Myra, who was on the verge of losing consciousness, then added, "This place isn’t safe anymore. We need to get her out of here."
"Hound Hyenas~ .... how in the hell did they breach the protection barrier? They were in the holding cells," Elio scowled, furious.
"I don’t know~ ....," the woman shook her head repeatedly. As she finished her words, another bolt of lightning struck a few meters away from them, turning the floor charcoal and ashen. She screamed, "AAaAAAAAAaaaa," and covered herself while Elio shielded Myra.
Elio’s eyes glowed a shade of ferocious red as he barked, "Leticia, take the crown princess to the healer immediately. I will deal with them myself."
