MATED TO THE VAMPIRE KING SON novel Chapter 71

Chapter 71

Damien’s POV

The moment dinner was over, Freda hurried to the room. She didn’t

stop to ask if I was coming or care to walk with me. Did Christie mean

this much to her? Her rage whenever she defended Christie was

admirable but for the wrong reasons.

Was that why she’d refused to sit with me? I couldn’t handle her

being that far from me. As I ate, I could taste her lips on mine. The vision of her naked body had clouded my eyes the whole time she’d

spoken to my uncle. I wanted Freda. Badly.

She wasn’t reciprocating. She wasn’t showing how much she needed me. Had kissing her offended her? If Christie hadn’t interrupted,

would she have allowed me to raise her thighs?

I strode away from the dining table before Kieran could stop me with another question. I couldn’t continue thinking about Freda in front of him, in case he manipulated me into reading my mind.

Only I get to see or think about Freda’s bare body.

The walk back to the room was silent. I’d been unusually quiet at

dinner, watching her and Kieran interact. It was good they were

getting along, but whenever my uncle said anything suggestive, she

flushed all over. Even in the dimly lit room, I could see her skin turn

red.

I still didn’t understand what she’d been trying to prove by coming to

dinner in that sinful dress. I’d never seen it before and wondered

where she’d gotten it.

I entered the dark room to see Freda already asleep on the bed. I

should apologize. I ruined her privacyNo, I didn’t. Freda needed to

understand that she was mine, and that included every inch of her.

I pulled off my shirt angrily, remembering how she’d hurried to cover

herself to shield her body from me. Did she still see me as a monster?

I’d been kind to her, listening to her every want. Why wasn’t she

doing the same?

It was simple. All I wanted was her. No argument.

I lay on the bed with her, my thoughts drifting to her cleavage and

the dress she’d worn to dinner. How could I tell her those sights were

for my eyes only? No one should see that beauty especially Uncle

Kieran.

Freda.I called her name softly. No response. Had she fallen asleep

that fast? FredaI said again, moving my hand toward her.

TII use the bathroom first. She snapped awake and headed for the

bathroom.

I lay above the covers, listening for water from the bathroom. The

shower turned off, and she walked out in a nightdress I’d never seen

before. Without effort, I hardened, and I could see her nipples clearly

through the thin fabric.

Goodnight. She muttered innocently, as if she didn’t know what she’d doneor wasn’t aware she was teasing me with her body.

Sleep well.I responded, my ego getting the better of me.

I watched her draw the covers over her body and turn off the bedbide lamp. She lay on her side with her back facing me. I stared at the curve of her body, my hands itching to hold her in my embrace. All I needed to do was stretch my hands a little and touch her. But I didn’t Instead, I turned and lay on my side facing the other way as I closed

my eyes.

Much time passed, and all I could think of was my mate lying beside

  1. me.

Eventually, I slept off like a child deprived of sweets.

Midnight came. Hands touched me. Fingers moved around my body.

Nails itched to pierce my skin as they grazed my spine.

I groaned in my sleep because they felt nice. The hands were warm

and pressed against my cold body. Soon I felt a leg on top of mine.

My hands moved instinctively as I gripped it tight. Only when I felt it

to be flesh and real did my eyes open, and my grip on Freda’s thigh

loosened before I set her leg back down. She was probably too asleep

to notice she was touching me.

But she’d grazed my skin with her hands. That had to be intentional.

I turned to stare at her sleeping form, but when I turned, I was met

with wide eyes. She was awake. She wasn’t touching me because she

was dreaming, she was touching me because she wanted to.

I didn’t know how to process that feeling, but I found it exciting. Her

eyes danced with anticipation as I wondered what she was thinking.
