Matthew sat down at the table with Kelsey.

She clapped her hands.

Immediately, a group of maids came over, each carrying a white porcelain plate filled with beautifully arranged dishes.

There were even various kinds of sashimi.

Matthew looked at the sushi placed before him. The corners of his mouth twitched slightly, after which he turned to Kelsey. "Are we seriously having rice for breakfast?"

Kelsey blinked in mild surprise, then smiled. "Mr. Larden, these are part of our cultural traditions. You might find them a bit unusual, but they taste really good."

Matthew picked up a piece of salmon sushi with his chopsticks and put it in his mouth. A strong burst of mayonnaise hit his tongue.

After swallowing it completely, he said nothing and continued eating in silence.

"Well, Mr. Larden? How's it taste?" Kelsey asked, her eyes full of curiosity.

"I've tasted the essence of your sushi."

A surprised look flashed across her face. "What did you taste?"

"Mayonnaise and ketchup. Every single one of these sushi pieces is loaded with both."

Matthew picked up a drink from the table and took a sip to wash away the cloying sweetness in his mouth.

"Uh…"

Kelsey fell silent as she tried to figure out how to respond.

Just as they spoke, a sudden commotion erupted outside.

"Where's Kelsey? Get her out here to talk to me! Mr. Grimhunger's here to marry her!"

Kelsey smiled while chatting with Matthew, but her expression changed the moment she heard the voice outside.

She immediately looked pitiful. "Mr. Larden, please help me."

Matthew looked into her pitiful face. "You lured them here, didn't you?"

"Mr. Grimhunger, please wait just a moment," she said. "Kelsey must've heard you. She'll come out right away."

Grimhunger's gaze wandered shamelessly over the maid. Then, he sneered. "Well, if she's not out yet, why don't you come over here and make me feel good instead?"

The maid's face turned pale.

"Mr. Grimhunger, I... I sing and dance, that's it. I'm not that kind of girl."

Grimhunger let out a loud, cocky laugh and reached for her. "Not that kind of girl? Please. That just means no one's paid you enough. Come with us and you'll be rolling in cash. You won't even need to do anything but lie there and enjoy yourself. Isn't that perfect?"

The maid looked at Grimhunger and his crew, their faces twisted with filthy grins.

She trembled even harder.

"Are you that desperate?"

A calm voice cut through the air.

Grimhunger turned his head toward the sound. When he saw the handsome Matthew standing there, he shouted loudly, "Who the hell are you?"
