Matthew stood at the doorway, holding Ariya in his arms.

When he heard Grimhunger's voice, he leaned down and tapped twice beside Ariya's ear. "I'm the boss of Kelsey's Free Guide," he said.

He looked straight at Grimhunger and gave him the fake identity he'd just made up. Since Kelsey liked to joke around, he figured he might as well play along.

Grimhunger froze when he saw Matthew holding a little girl.

"You? No way you're the boss of this place. The real boss is Kelsey, and she's about to marry me. Who do you think you're fooling, kid?"

Matthew stayed calm and looked at Grimhunger and the guys behind him.

"You mean the boss' wife."

A strange thought popped into Grimhunger's mind. Looking at Matthew's good looks and the little girl in his arms, he started to wonder. Could Kelsey already be married? Did she already have a kid?

That thought hit hard and started to stick.

"No. No way. That's impossible. And why would a weak-looking guy like you be here instead of Kelsey? Or do you really think you can save that woman all by yourself?"

Matthew was speechless. Did he really look that weak?

However, judging by Grimhunger's big muscles and all those scars, maybe they just assumed strength was all about size.

"I guess I do look kind of weak," he agreed. "But bullying her maid right in front of her boss? That kind of thing really ticks me off."

The maid looked touched when she heard that.

Grimhunger and his crew suddenly went quiet, then burst out laughing.

"You've gotta be kidding me. So what if you're mad? What are you gonna do? Come hit us if you've got the guts."

Matthew looked at their smug faces and let out a sigh. "You know something?" he said. "If you don't go looking for trouble, sometimes you can actually stay alive. I was planning to let you live until this afternoon…"

A silver needle sat between his long fingers. He gave it a light tap.

Grimhunger's face, full of fear and regret, slowly went blank. His body stiffened, then dropped straight to the ground.

As the rest of the gang scattered, Matthew smiled. "Well, since you're already here, I can't just let you leave."

He ran his hand over the white robe he had changed back into.

Nine silver needles shot out, too fast to see, and chased after the fleeing members of Grimhunger's gang.

One body after another hit the ground.
