Chapter 435 He’s Really Not A Good Guy

But after spending more time with Nelson, Daniel had started to think of him as his own kid, too.

Nelson sat on Daniel’s lap and, trying to lighten the mood like before, he made an effort to strike up a conversation with him.

Nelson and Daniel were more familiar with each other, so their conversation flowed much more naturally than his earlier one with Lester.

They started talking about Benjamin.

Once Benjamin came up, Daniel couldn’t help but warn Lester.

“Lester, you need to stop messing with Benjamin,” he said.

“I’m telling you, he’s really not a good guy.

“Wait, no, that’s not right. I mean, he’s really not someone to mess with!”

Daniel had misspoken.

That slip-up was thanks to all the times he’d complained about Benjamin to his buddies.

He was so used to grumbling about Benjamin to his friends that he couldn’t switch enough in front of an outsider.

Daniel corrected his mistake.

After fixing it, he made Lester agree not to tell Benjamin about looking after Nina.

Otherwise, Benjamin would absolutely lose it on Lester.

Daniel made Benjamin sound pretty scary.

But Lester wasn’t scared.

Not only was Lester unafraid, he actually got a weird kick out of provoking Benjamin and making him angry.

He didn’t know why, but seeing Benjamin annoyed gave him a strange sense of satisfaction.

“Daniel, shut up for a minute,” Lester said, cutting him off. “Benjamin’s here.”

Lester’s announcement that Benjamin had arrived made Daniel choke.

He didn’t dare look backk.

His body went stiff as he sat facingg bsster.

“Lester, you’re messing with me right? Danielwhispered, his voice strained. “Why would Benjamin come here? He was stilllhtbbonewhen Ideft.”

Daniel was sure he hadn’t slipped up pordonaanything that would tip Benjamin off.

While Daniel was still in denial, Lester idobeddup and grected Benjamin, who was walking toward them.

“Long time no see, Benjamin,” Lester saidd.

Even though Lester and Benjamin had been clasbhing inbbusiness for years, aside from one video conference back in Averton, they danceinpocsson very, very few times.

Over all these years, they hadn’t seen each other mucch.

They knew everything about each other, but they hhddzzeroninterest in what the other looked like.

Behind Benjamin’s back, Daniel complained about him to his friends in hundreds of messages.

But face-to-face, he was usually pretty well-behaved.

After all, the reputation of being beaten up since childhood wasn’t for nothing.

Benjamin didn’t touch the coffee.

He looked at the band-aids on Nina’s small hands and cheeks, his eyes darkening, his voice turning cold. “Nina got hurt?”

At Benjamin’s question, before Lester could even respond, Nelson, who had been with Nina the whole time, spoke up first, “Mr. Graham, here’s what happened.”

on proceeded to clearly recount everything that had just occurred. His memory was llent; he could repeat, almost word for word, what the adults and the children had said aring the conflict.

When he finished, he added, “Nina already forgave Harry. We were all playing together.”

Benjamin grunted in acknowledgment. He knew Nina often got into little scuffles with other kids, and after fighting, they usually just went right back to playing.

Daniel didn’t blame Harry either. He focused his criticism on Anthony.

“Anthony is still as annoying as he was when we were kids,” Daniel said sharply. “What if Nina wasn’t our kid? Would he have really kicked her out?

“See, Benjamin? I told you this guy is the worst.”

Daniel was clearly unhappy with Anthony.

Benjamin frowned slightly, also thinking Anthony’s behavior was out of line.

While Benjamin and Daniel were talking about Anthony, Anthony himself was still in the main
