Chapter 436 Benjamin Was Like A Demon
“Sweetheart, can we reschedule our engagement party?” Anthony asked, his face a mask of misery. “I just want to go home and rest.”
The estate used for Anthony’s engagement was just one of his many properties. His usual residence was elsewhere.
His fiancée watched his distress and gently stroked his head.
“Darling, what are you so afraid of?” she asked softly. “You can tell me.”
She was incredibly gentle, patiently stroking his head and soothing him. Anthony completely melted into her tenderness.
He took her hand and buried his face in it.
“Baby, I’m a little scared of Benjamin,” he confessed.
“When we were kids, I pushed Benjamin’s brother, Daniel, into the pool to teach him how to swim.
“I swear, I didn’t mean any harm.
“My father kicked me into the water, and that’s how I learned.
“But that method didn’t work for Daniel. He didn’t come back up.
“Benjamin jumped in and fished him out.
“And then Benjamin was like a demon.
“After he revived Daniel, he nearly drowned me.
“He was really terrifying.”
To this day, Anthony could still vividly remember the feeling of Benjamin holding his head underwater. He had genuinely thought he was going to die. Fortunately, the adults arrived just in time.
Even though Anthony had almost been drowned by Benjamin, when the grown-ups showed up, he didn’t get any comfort or sympathy. Arthur gave him another beating.
Afterwards, Arthur sternly explained that Benjamin had an older brother, three years his senior, who had tragically drowned at sea on his sixth birthday.
Benjamin had been extremely close to his big brother. Daniel, born after the tragedy, had no memory of him.
Remembering all these old stories still sent shivers down Anthony’s spine.
His fiancée listened quietly and then tenderly kissed the top of his head.
“It’s okay, darling,” she soothed. “That was so many years ago. He’s probably not that scary anymore.”
“You can be brave, okay?” she encouraged him.
Anthony’s face twisted in pain. I really don’t think I can do it!
Benjamin, his tone flat, gave her his first real sentence since she woke up. “I’m taking you home.”
Daniel, watching from the side, could tell Benjamin was in a seriously bad mood and wisely kept quiet.
But Nina, fearless as ever, loudly protested.
“Daddy, no!” she insisted. “Nina no home!”
Now fully awake and refreshed from her nap, she was bursting with energy and ready to play. Taking her home at this moment was going to be a challenge.
Benjamin knew it would be difficult, but he was determined.
“Nina, Mommy is waiting for you at home,” he said. “She’s looking for you. Don’t you want Mommy?”
The question made Nina’s eyes go wide.
“Nina want Mommy!” she declared instantly.
a might get scolded by Amelia sometimes, but in her heart, Amelia was absolutely number e. She loved Amelia the most!
This wasn’t just flattery, it was the real ranking in her head!
Seeing her reaction, Benjamin pressed his advantage. “If you want Mommy, then we go home to find her.”
Nina paused, her new little brain working hard. “No home,” she stated firmly, not falling for his logic.
