Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 1296

Oliver crossed his arms. “Shouldn’t I be asking you that? What were you doing sticking your nose in there?”

Finley grinned. “Come on, Oliver, you’re already married. I’m still single. If I don’t hustle a little, I’ll be alone forever.”

Oliver shot him a look. “Less talk, more facts. What’s the situation inside?”

Finley sighed, realizing there was no getting out of it. “Bomb’s been disarmed. There’s some kind of virus—Livia called Percy over to check if it’s the real deal. And get this: we found two huge crates buried in the yard.”

Oliver’s eyebrows shot up. “Buried? Two crates?”

Finley shrugged. “I know, right? I’m dying to know what’s in them. Who buries stuff like that? Some drifter turns the place upside down—there’s gotta be something big going on.”

He leaned in, dropping his voice. “Should we tell Darren?”

Oliver shook his head. He hadn’t let Darren and his people come over—didn’t want them getting caught in a blast, just in case. “Yeah, tell him. But we need to haul those crates back to the lab. If there’s a virus inside, opening them here would be a nightmare.”

Finley nodded, looking relieved.

Right then, Percy arrived with Logan trailing behind. This time, Oliver felt something different about Logan—a certain sharpness, a colder edge to his expression.

Percy glanced at his companion. “Logan, just wait out here, okay? Don’t go inside. I’ll check things out first.”

Logan just nodded, and Percy, reassured, headed in.

Honestly, Percy hadn’t planned to bring Logan, but the guy wouldn’t take no for an answer—kept saying maybe he could help. They didn’t have time to argue, so Percy gave in, just hoping Logan wouldn’t cause trouble.

Oliver’s phone buzzed—a video call from Josefina.

Josefina: “So? What’s happening? Bomb’s taken care of and now you’ve got a virus? Want me to come over? You know I’m the expert here.”

Oliver smiled. “My amazing wife, Percy’s already here. You just stay home and take it easy, alright?”

Josefina: “…”

She was the expert! How could they do this without her?
