Chapter 55-2
Chapter 55-2
“Thank the Goddess, her princess years only lasted until she was around ten years old.” Cash now says, making me realize how close the two of them must be, after growing up together, but also making me wonder if the two of them were secretly a thing since they spent so much time together.
“So, you and Mazie…” I began to ask, but Cash was quick to defend himself before I could even get the question out of my mouth, as he said, “Goddess, no!”
“But the two of you are always together.” I said now, trying to justify why I had asked in the first place.
“There was that kiss in fifth grade.” Chance says, chiming in being all nonchalant, making Cash let out a growl, while I looked back at Cash, now suspicious if he was telling the truth.
In all honesty, if the two of them were secretly dating, then he would be off limits to me, making it easier for me because of the girl code, but the thought of the two of them together for some reason pained my heart.
“You know damn straight why I kissed her.” Cash says back to Chance, making me realize that I may have just once again started another family feud.
But to my surprise, Chance let it go, taking a long sip of his sweet tea, making me look back and forth between the two of them, wondering if one of them was going to tell me the reason why, because I was now curious.
“Seriously? Neither of you are going to tell me?” I finally asked, making Chance shrug his shoulders as he looked at Cash to give me the answer I sought, but Cash just stared at me with a dumbfound look on his face, before he finally said to me, “I don’t kiss and tell.”
I let out a growl of frustration, before I said to him, “You’re impossible.”
Cash wiggled his eyebrows at me, giving me his famous smirk, before he winks at me and says, “You like it, and you know it.”
I rolled my eyes at him, and shook my head, while the sound of a vehicle coming up my grandmother’s lane caught my attention, as I wondered who it could be. As the vehicle finally came into view, I almost screamed out in joy, to see that my car was finally here.
Pulling away from Chance, running towards my car, the word, “Freedom” came from my lips, knowing that I finally had my own set of wheels again.
The driver pulled my car to a halt as he rolled down the window, looking a bit bewildered as
he said to me, “Please tell me this is the Knight’s residence.”
“This is actually the Wilson’s residence, but I am Raven Knight, and that is my car.”

“Oh, thank the Lord. I have been driving around all morning in the middle of nowhere trying to find you. Not a single soul in this town could point me in the right direction, until I stopped at the Diner in town and some girl there finally knew where you lived.” The driver said to me, frustrated, as he got out of the car, handing me my keys before he pulled out a small handheld device for me to sign on.
Signing my name on the device, I handed it back to him, before he turned and quickly made his way down the lane, while another guy yelled from the bottom of the lane, “Please tell me we found her.”
I let out a chuckle knowing exactly how these men were feeling, as I too felt that way when I first arrived here, but thankfully, in the short period of time I have been here, I realized it wasn’t as bad as my first impression of it was.
“This is your car?” Cash asks, pushing his way past me, as he opens the door, getting in the driver’s seat, running his hands over the steering wheel, like a kid in a candy store. “I bet this baby can go zero to sixty in five point two seconds.”
“I’m sure you’re probably right, but let’s not find out.” I told Cash, bursting his bubble, as Chance made his way over to us, with an indifferent look on his face.
“This car will never do with the winters we have here. You won’t even be able to get it down your grandmother’s lane.” Chance now says, raining on my parade of happiness of finally having my own set of wheels, but I knew he was right, because this car was meant for sunny California, not here.
“Who cares, this car is hell a cool. Besides, one of us can drive her around in the winter. Isn’t that right, Raven.” Cash says, still excited about my car, but the excitement I once had seeing it arrive was no longer there, knowing that my freedom was for a limited time, because as soon as the snow started to fly, I was back to relying on everyone else for a ride.
“Let’s take it for a spin.” Cash now says, motioning for me to hand him the keys, but Chance was quick to shut that idea down, as he says to him, “We need to get back to work. This lane isn’t going to fix itself. Besides, I am sure Raven has other things today that she needs to get done herself.”
Cash lets out a growl, as he slowly gets out of my car, with a bummed look on his face, like Chance had just stolen his one chance at happiness today, but Chance was right. I did have other things that I wanted to do. Now that I finally had my own car, I wanted to go back to the cemetery and get the names of the headstones once again, since the photos of them on my
phone had been deleted. Without those names, I was never going to find out what happened all those years ago, and the truth of why my mother had left here.
“It’s Saturday. What could she possibly have to do, but to hang out with us?” Cash asks Chance, trying to get Chance to give in, and allow us all to go for a ride, which I was good with, but after I took care of something first.
“Actually, I do need to go to town. I still have work to do for my online class, and I really need to go back to the library to work on it. How about I make you a deal? You finish the lane, and when I get back, the three of us will go for a ride.”
“Deal.” Came from Cash, with a huge smile on his face, before he added, “As long as I get to
drive.”
