Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 136

Chapter 73-1

Chance’s POV

I had no clue what the hell kind of trouble I was about to face, but if Chase was actually calling out for help, then I knew that it had to be pretty bad, because he wasn’t the brother that ever asks for help, especially from me. It didn’t take long for my wolf to pick up onto Chase’s trail, leading me straight down the side of the mountain towards town, back in the direction I had just come from.

If I thought the mountain was hard to climb, it was even harder trying to make my way down it with its loose rocks that lined its sides, making me realize how my uncle had stayed hidden among the pack for so long. Thankfully, my wolf was not just any wolf, but an Alpha wolf, digging his paws deeply within the bed of rocks, finding the traction he needed to get us safely to the bottom of the mountain, but as my paws hit flat land, I quickly realized that I wasn’t alone.

I didn’t bother to stop and fight them off, because I knew now why Chase had called out for help, making me feel the urgency to get to him even graver than it was before. Racing through the small patch of forest, I ducked and dodged through it, trying to maintain space between me and the damn rogues that were hot on my tail.

It was the first time that I had ever seen them working together as a pack, validating my uncle’s story he just told me, because the only way rogues were known to work together like this, was if they were under the control of the Rogue Alpha King.

For days now, my father and the pack had been hunting the rogues, and, unfortunately, they had come up short, not finding a single trace of them being on our territory, and now all of a sudden, I have at least a half dozen hot on my trail, making me question what the hell they were up to. But I didn’t have too much time to think about that, because as I burst through the tree line, I saw my brother in the middle of the field fully engaged in a battle with at least a dozen of the rogues himself.

My wolf let out a low domineering growl, letting his Alpha presence be known, before he charged straight towards the circle of rogues surrounding my brother. My wolf lowered his head and began to plow straight through the rogues to the center of the circle, where Chase was fighting for his life.

By the time I got to the center of the circle, it was evident that Chase’s wolf was tiring, as his wolf was holding on by a thread, covered in blood, with bodies piling up motionlessly at his feet. It was clear that he had been at this now for a while, taking them on by himself, in typical Chase style, but thankfully he realized he had a bit more off than he could chew alone.

The problem was, as I turned into a full circle preparing myself to go to battle beside him, I had to wonder if it was too much even with the two of us. The rogues that had chased me through the forest were now joining their comrades that had been attacking my brother, now making them a couple dozen strong.

Are you going to help me or are you just going to stand there?Chase says sarcastically to me through our mind link, drawing me out of my thoughts, making me realize it didn’t matter how many of them there were, because I was now in the center of them and there was only one way out of this alive, and that was fighting our way out.

Buckling down, I let out another growl, this time warning the damn rogues their death was soon to come, before I took my first victim, sinking my canines deep within his flesh, drawing his life from within him.

One by one, the rogues continued to come at us, but as the bodies began to pile up, they changed their strategy and began to swarm us in pairs of two. When they saw us beginning to wear down, especially Chase, who had already looked exhausted before I had arrived, they

came at us with even more.
