Chapter 94-1
Chance’s POV
It was loud and clear what Mrs. Jacobs was trying to tell us in not so many words, but I found it hard to believe that my family would cover up something so heinous. On the other hard, they had faked my uncle’s death, making me question that maybe she might just be telling the truth.
One thing that was clear though was Mrs. Jacobs, was defiantly bitter about her brother’s death, and it was apparent that she blamed my family all these years for what happened. It now made me wonder what game she was playing, as I remember it very clearly her trying to get with our father, after her mate had died alongside our mother. Plus, there was the fact that she was for her daughter being our mate and Luna, making me wonder if she was up to something that entitled revenge for her brother’s death.
Unfortunately, right now wasn’t a good time to question her about all this, as Raven stood directly behind us with a clueless look on her face, and I prayed to the Moon Goddess it stayed that way, until we all sat
down and had a talk with her.
Honestly, I don’t know what I was thinking of bringing her with us to confront Mrs. Jacobs, as I should have known that it would lead us to questions unasked and unanswered with her being here. Regardless, Mrs. Jacobs pointed us in a certain direction, one that I was able to actually question the other party about, since they were no longer dead to me.
“Thank you for your time.” I told Mrs. Jacobs, knowing that I had to leave this conversation where it was at, until I could question her at a later time, without being in Raven’s presence.
Turning on my heels, I began to usher everyone back towards my truck, just wanting to get out of here before something slipped from someone’s mouth, causing Raven to be suspicious before we had a chance to talk to her by ourselves. Before we could make it ten steps away from her, Mrs. Jacobs calls out, “I am sorry to hear about your grandmother, Raven.”
Everyone at that moment froze in their steps, as I knew that I couldn’t be the only one that realized that there was no way in hell that Mrs. Jacobs could have known about Mrs. Wilson’s death. Hell, there weren’t even records of her being in the hospital, let alone her death being recorded for public knowledge.
I peered over at Raven, who was standing between Cash and Mazie, and I could see the wheeis in her head turning as she turned around to face Mrs. Jacobs. Forcing a fake half-smile on her face, she says to her, “Thank you, Mrs. Jacobs. That is very kind of you. Maybe the two of us could sit down and talk about your offer later this week.”
A devious smile didn’t go unnoticed, as it formed on Mrs. Jacobs’s face, as it was apparent that she thought she had won this game she was playing with Raven, but I knew that Raven was playing her own little game back with her.
“Stop by my office sometime this week. I have everything sitting in a folder waiting for you to look at.”
“I bet you do.” Came from under Mazie’s breath, as I watched her hands ball into fists, but thankfully, Cash was able to bump into her slightly, stopping her from saying or doing something foolish, while I held a growl back, knowing what Mrs. Jacobs was up to.
“I’ll make sure to do that.” Raven told her quickly, staying in character, even with Mazie’s slight outburst that I hoped Mrs. Jacobs didn’t catch it, or think that Raven caught it, but it was clear that Raven had

caught it, making me wonder if her wolf was coming forward on its own.
Raven then forced a kind smile on her face, before she turned, wrapping her arm around Mazie’s arm, before she guided Mazie, towards my truck. It wasn’t until we were all inside the truck that I let out a breath I didn’t realize was holding, as that breath was holding back a growl that had resonated in my
chest.
