Chapter 128-1

Raven’s POV

It didn’t take long for me to realize that Jacob, with the taser versus Lexi, were two separate threats. The taser was powered by batteries in Jacob’s hand, making it nowhere near as deadly compared to when Lexi juiced it up with her magic. It was plain as day to me that it was having less of an effect on Chase than what it had on Cash the previous night.

Gritting his teeth, Chase slowly pushed me away from his chest, lessening the amount of electricity I was receiving from it, before he ultimately gave me a good push, breaking the connection between us. My body landed ungracefully on my grandmother’s recliner chair with a thud, almost sending me flying over the back of it, but I was freed from the pain of the taser running through Chase to me.

Trying to get my bearings, I pushed to get up, as the tips of my fingers were now tingling from the jolt of electricity that had been forced into my body, but I fought through the pain or, should I say the discomfort of it, knowing that I had to stop Jacob before Chase did.

I felt like a damn toddler trying to sit up for the first time, as the recliner chair was not cooperating with me at all, leaving me feeling like I was now on a surf simulator. When I finally got upright, I noticed that Chase was already building up enough strength to stop Jacob, as I noticed his hands balling into fists.

Jacob, stop!Came out of my lips, just as I made eye contact with him, but it was too late.

Before I knew what was happening, Chase was turned around, and Jacob left out an earpiercing scream that could awaken the dead, as Chase took the taser right out of his damn hand.

What the actual bloody hell?Chase says through gritted teeth, and I could tell that he was still feeling the pain of it, but he was bearing through it.

Straddling the footrest of the chair, I moved awkwardly to stand, rushing to Jacob’s side, knowing that! was probably going to have to place myself between the two of them to save Jacob’s life. But as I moved to Jacob’s side, I realized that Jacob was holding his arm, as tears began to pool in his eyes, before he looks at me and says, Raven, he got me.

I looked back down at his arm, wondering how bad it could possibly be, because from what I could see, there wasn’t even a speck of blood dripping from it. Grabbing a hold of his arm, I say to him, Let me see.

r As I try and pry his hand from over the top of it.

Finally, he closes his damn eyes, turning his head away, as he says to me, I don’t want to be a werewolf. Before releasing his hand from over the top of his socalled wound.

It took all I had not to burst out in laughter, seeing the tiniest of a mark left on his flesh. Honestly, I don’t even know if Chase himself had made it, or if the taser had nicked him. Either way, the mark was the size of a pin, and I could barely see it with the naked eye.

Releasing his arm, I try and hold it together, as I say to him, I think you are going to live.

A low growl now came from behind me, making me realize that I had totally forgotten about the angry ass werewolf in the room that had just got tased. I slowly turned to see a now sober Chase standing directly behind me, breathing heavily, as he stared past me at Jacob, like he was going to kill him.

You got me man.Jacob now says over my shoulder, before he begins to talk to himself, about how he would never make it as a werewolf, because he is a vegetarian.

Jacob continued on with something about Bambi and his friends, but I was too worried about Chase going to kill him to listen to his whole spill of why he wouldn’t make it as a werewolf. But unlike me not listening, Chase was, and his eyebrows furrowed as he took in every word Jacob was saying.

Chapter 128-2

It was at that moment that I realized that Chase had no clue that the cat was out of the bag, and that I knew everything. Well, not everything, but enough to know that he was a werewolf.

Jacob, enough! Go back to my room and stay there.I told him over my shoulder, while I kept my eyes on Chase, still worried that he is going to retaliate.

But RavenJacob moves to argue, but before could even argue back with him, Chase leaves out one hell of a growl, making Jacob rethink his argument, as he takes off for my room, slamming the door behind him.

Chase’s eyes followed Jacob back into the hallway, and I stared at him, watching his chest heaving for air, as it was clear that he was trying to calm himself down. But when the door slammed shut, Chase’s eyes moved back to mine, and there was no doubt there was a mixture of anger and confusion in them.

How long have you known?Chase asks me, through gritted teeth, trying to hold back his anger, but it was anger that I didn’t feel was geared towards me.

Stepping away from him, because I honestly at this point didn’t know if I could trust him like I trusted his brothers, I admit to him, I just found out today after you left the socalled den, when Cash and I were attacked by a group of rogue wolves.

Chase’s eyes narrowed as he looked at me, before his eyebrows furrowed, as if he was surprised to hear that we were attacked. Taking a step back from me, he surprisingly asks me, Is Cash, okay?

Nodding my head, I let him know that his brother was fine, before I explained to him exactly what happened. When I got to the part of what went down at the school, I realized that was where Cash had said Chase had taken off to, but now come to think of it, I don’t recall seeing him there.

I couldn’t help but look at Chase now with suspicion of where he could have been during the attack, especially since I had my suspicions of Jessica being involved in running me out of Beaumont. I didn’t want to believe that Chase could be involved, especially after everything he had done for me the other day with saving my life, but when it came down to Jessica and me, which one would he choose to protect?

What’s that look for?Chase asks me, making me realize that had done a horrible job hiding rny suspicions, but at this point I didn’t see the need in hiding anything else from each other.

With that thought in my head, I decided to ask him, Where exactly were you when the attack was happening at the school?

Chase’s eyes narrowed even more, leaving them as tiny slits, while he took a step back from me, as he looked like he was getting ready to go all defensive on me.

Why are you asking me that? Wait, are you accusing me of something? He then asks me, with the look of hurt now in his eyes, like he couldn’t believe that I would think so little of him, but after the way he had treated me for most of my time here, what did he really expect from me.

The two of us definitely didn’t have a relationship built on trust. Hell, we didn’t even have a relationship for that matter. The only thing the two of us really had was a lovehate relationship that had taken hold since the moment we met. It wasn’t by my doing, but in fact by his own divine, as he made it very clear to me on more than one occasion that he wanted nothing to do with me.

But even thinking back to all the pain he had caused me, I couldn’t bring myself to hate him, and right now, Tcouldn’t bring myself to truly believe that he was involved. Shaking my head, I tried to play off the fact that I may for a second have thought that he might be, but for some reason Chase could see right through

  1. me.

Chapter 128-3

You’re unreal. You truly think that I would do anything to hurt my own pack?He asks me, clearly upset with me, but I honestly never thought of it that way.

Now it was my turn to be on the defense, as I took a step towards him, trying to reach out to him, while I said to him, No, but Chase, you have to understand that you haven’t been the kindest to me since I arrived. With the way you have treated me, why wouldn’t I think that you could possibly be involved in trying to run me out of this town?

Chase takes a step back from me, not allowing my hand to reach him, while he shakes his head at me in disbelief, all the while he says to me, “I would never purposely hurt you. As for me wanting you to leave town, I still do, because I would know that you were safe and away from all of this.

My hand fell to my side, as I stared at him confused. It was the first nice thing that he had said to me since I had arrived here, even though it wasn’t put in such a nice way. At least I now knew that he would never hurt me, but unlike his brothers, it was clear that he still wanted nothing to do with me.

I couldn’t understand why his countless rejections of me were like a new stab wound to the heart every time they happened. By now you would think that I would be numb to his refusal to have anything to do with me, but each time I am reminded of it by him, it is like a new flesh wound is opened.

Throwing my hands up in the air, giving up completely, because honestly, I was in way over my head here, and I was tired of all the pain I was feeling in my heart, I turned away from Chase, and began to walk away from him, as I said, You’re right, I should take Mrs. Jacobs up on her offer and leave town. Then you would be happy that you were finally rid of me, and you could have Jessica as your mate, and convince your brothers to accept her too, so you can all live happily ever after.”

The word afterwas barely from my lips, when I felt Chase grab a hold of my hand, spinning me right back around. But I just didn’t spin around to face him, but I landed face first in his chest. Chase’s hand reaches. for my chin, and he slowly lifts it so that I am looking up at him, before he says to me, There is no Jessical and me anymore.”

My eyes blinked a few times as I stared up at him, shocked by his confession. Never did I believe I would hear those words come from his lips, but most of all, never did I think that I would be standing here in Chase’s embrace right now either.

But what shocked me the most is what came next.
